The first game of SOO this year is imminent.

One of the best competitions of any contact sport, anywhere.

A quick reminder of how competitive Origin has been over the years:

Games played: 81

QLD wins: 40

NSW wins: 39

Draws: 2

Series wins: tied - NSW 12, QLD 12 (and 2 drawn)

Queensland are defending champs, and have won the previous 2 Origin series. They're looking to tie the NSW record of 3 consecutive series and going by the talent in their side - head into this years' Origin as favourites.

NSW are the underdogs, but determined to stop Queensland in their tracks and sneak home this year's series. Will be a tough ask, as they've got a rookie halves combo, yet to prove themselves in the toughest NRL arena.

Geez, that is one nasty-looking QLD team.

Wallace & Bird for NSW really have the weight of our state on thier shoulders, and when Gasnier & Cooper get walked all over by thier opposing centres & wingers, it will be goodnight NSW.

Let's hope the NSW ruck play has enough variety to get the QLD'ers on thier back feet a few times to give the Blues a chance.

The NSW TAB Sportbet currently has QLD paying $1.65, NSW paying $2.20.

Bring it on!

Mate - you need to get out more! Origin is an overhyped showcase for a declining sport that is owned and orchestrated by the media (sort of like the Olympics I guess!).

Yeah, looking at those line-ups, you'd have to say that the queenslanders are specials.... but then again, Origin seems to bear surprises without fail

Bring back Dell!

He's going to be the guest touch judge for the night. He's the only one capable of keeping his eye on the white line for a sustained period.

Sorry to disappoint you - I'm dead serious (and I'm one very disillusioned league fan). I reckon the NRL will be gone inside 20 years - the price of 100 years of complacency, allowing clubs like Easts and Melbourne to buy premiership teams and a set of rules that take all the skill out of the game.

I'm probably saying this in the wrong thread, coz I reckon Origin is about the only thing RL has got right in the past 20 or so years.....

Once upon a time in the Kingdom of Heaven, God went missing for six days.

Eventually, Michael the archangel found him on the seventh day resting. He enquired of God, "Where have you been?"

God pointed downwards through the clouds. "Look Michael, look what I've made" said God.

Archangel Michael looked puzzled and said, "What is it?"

"It's a planet," replied God, "and I've put LIFE on it. I'm going to call it Earth and its going to be a great world of balance."

"Balance?" inquired Michael, still confused.

God explained, pointing down to different parts of the Earth. "For example, North America will be a place of great opportunity and wealth while South America is going to be poor; the Middle East over there will be a hot spot and Russia will be a cold spot. Over there I've placed a continent of white people and over there is a continent of black people."

God continued, pointing to the different countries.

"This one will be extremely hot and arid while this one will be very cold and covered in ice."

The Archangel, impressed by God's work, then pointed to another area of land and asked, "What's that?"

"Ah," said God. "That's Queensland, the most glorious place on earth.

A land of sunshine, there are beautiful people, impressive towns; it is the home of beautiful rain forests, magnificent islands and beaches, a beautiful reef, the world's finest sportsmen and women, artists, musicians, writers, philosophers, explorers and politicians. There is an abundance of minerals and fantastic farming land. It is a place where everyone from around the world will come for their holidays to relax and enjoy themselves. The people from Queensland are going to be modest, intelligent and humorous and they're going to be found travelling the world. They'll be extremely sociable, hard-working and high-achieving, and they will be known through out the world as speakers of truth."

Michael gasped in wonder and admiration but then proclaimed, "What about balance God, you said there will be BALANCE!"

God replied very wisely, "Wait till you see the wonkers I'm putting next to them in New South Wales."

Enjoy your Wednesday nite Cockroaches

So harsh Steve :o

a jesting wonker - hmm - that's something to ponder on

One waits with bated breath for the outcome of the contest, then one will, with some certitude, be able to determine which battered toad/cockie is in need of cleansing from the palate of the victors.

Either way I'm hoping for a great game.

Happy viewing :D

Perhaps the teams should have been called "Most of Melbourne Storm" v "A few from Melbourne Storm coached by the Melbourne Storm's coach".

Incidently, didn't the Melbourne Storm do well against the Kiwi's the other night?

Not suprisingly, the Melbourne Storm took a battering in the NRL. Keeping four teams going would be taxing on anyone. :P
