Dr. Zachary Smith Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Recently bought the Wintal HDMI dvd player. Seems to work okay BUT the bastard thing will only allow PCM audio (not 5.1) from a coax connection to a 5.1 amp if you attempt to upscale a DVD via HDMI to 720p or 1080i. If you use component video at 576i The PCM/Dolby setting "un-greys" (unlocks) and then you can select 5.1 audio. Can anyone tell me why this happens? Even the handbook says that the audio setting is locked at PCM when HDMI HiDef is selected. So, basically you can select a great picture but you sacrifice 5.1 sound...why the hell did Wintal do this??? Any ideas anyone???
