Thanks for the reply. That thread looks like its for Plasma though, so would the same problem likely to affect LCDs?

My parents put a deposit down on one of these yesterday. They went to just buy a washing machine, and came back making a deposit on both appliances saying they got a good deal if they bought both -.-

I'm quite offended they didn't ask for my opinion before committing to it, cos even with my bare knowledge, it still beats having no knowledge at all.

I've tried talking them out of it, but unless theres good reason to, I can't see that happening.

Don't get offended. Just show them the thread and say that's what happens to these items. If a problem affects plasma, there's no reason why there shouldn't be other problems with LCDs. Just ask your parents if they would buy a Zongshen motorcycle or Ssangyong car. If their answer is "No way", tell the Celestial is the same.

Get that order cancelled and swap it for a "proper" company's product. If it's LCD, go for Sony, Samsung or Sharp.

I've just purchased a Celestial CHL3243A LCD and when checking out one of (the many) setup sections, it showed SAMSUNG, so it's possible that it's built around one of their screens.

Excellent HD reception but not so good SD, but they're being phased out soon anyway.
