asebastian Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 (edited) Hi, I'm planning to use my Foxtel signal across the house to the 2nd TV in the bedroom, a distance of 22m thru a couple of plaster walls. 2-way (for remote signal back to Foxtel box). Have 1 cordless phone, and wireless LAN. Can anyone please recommend a make/model of a reliable a/v sender? Appreciate if you could also let me know the approx price paid and store. I've seen a few types in Dick Smith etc, but not sure of the quality of the units. Also looking at the new Digitech 5.8gHz units now available, supposed to be much more reliable and less prone to interference http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/p/5-8ghz-wireless-av-sender Thanks. Meld Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 I'm doing something similar but without such device. I just used a coax feed from the Foxtel unit. Good old RF. The picture quality is great but I only get monaural audio. And I have to yell at somebody in the living room to switch channels for me, or walk over there myself. It'd be interesting to know if you find a good product. I was tempted to order a cheap device from Zazz a few months ago, but research on the device uncovered some complaints that put me off. One day, I'll change the wiring to S-Video or Component video and stereo audio cables, and find a device to wi-fi the Foxtel remote. But I have found myself not even finding anything good to watch recently.

alcoop1503559994 Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 I bought the 5.8ghz one from Jaycar a couple of weeks ago to send foxtel from living room to the bedrom and it works perfectly for me however only over about 10 metres.

If you've already got the RF cable, why not use the Foxtel Multi-Room remote? Simple and very effective. Foxtel iQ multiroom remote (I got a feeling your answer back is going to be you don't have the IQ..)
asebastian Posted May 12, 2008 Author Posted May 12, 2008 (I got a feeling your answer back is going to be you don't have the IQ..) Spot on...! Just got the plain old Foxtel on cable. Anyway I'm thinking of giving the Digitech 5.8GHz unit a go, once they have it back in stock. Otherwise have to talk the missus into paying for a 2nd Foxtel box. Thanks.
