momaw Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Friends, I'm so happy to make the 10K post worthwhile. It's been a long journey both on the forum and the putting together of this new system. But it's done, and I'm now happy and proud to be able to share it with such good folk. Momaw's New HT Blog Pictures are linked throughout (pics will be added in coming days for each component and linked to their entries). I hope you enjoy my humble effort. I know some have amazing systems that have inspired this one and will continue to inspire perhaps a dedicated room in the next home (a unit only has so much room ). I hope perhaps this will offer something to those putting together their own humble pieces of HT heaven. Thanks for all the good times. Mo

Mo What a great effort Mo, it looks really great and I'm sure it sounds as good as it looks too. And it shows what a great setup can be had in a smaller space. To steal a line from Foxy here it all looks so neat and well setup. Congrats on the setup and post no 10,000 Mo.

AndrewW Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Awesome work mate Glad to see you finally got the speakers set up. I can honestly say from first hand experience that this is one very nice setup.

James240 Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Very nice set up, i'm a big fan of B&Ws myself. How do they sound in 2 channel through the Marantz?
mwd Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Units, Subwoofers and Neighbours do not make a very good mix... IMHO. So good choice there. Looks very nice setup.. Lots of room plenty of space for a 60" display
the_wonderchild Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 very nice stuff there. I knew you were saving something big for the milestone and you didn't fail to deliver.
str0be Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Looks excellent Mo.. love the set-up.. Where did you get the entertainment unit from?

Highjinx Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 (edited) Absolutely Supa!.................a top effort and result! Edited May 11, 2008 by Highjinx
momaw Posted May 11, 2008 Author Posted May 11, 2008 Thanks for all the kind words guys. I've added extra pics of the individual components and my new storage shelves for discs. To answer some questions: just a question ...how high is the TV from the floor? From the bottom edge of the panel the distance to the floor is 80cm How do they sound in 2 channel through the Marantz? Like Heaven I gave a good listening this morning to Mike Patton's latest vehicle - Peeping Tom. Anyone familiar with this album knows it has a varied repertoire and the B&W's paired to the Marantz put me in listening heaven. I can't wait to stick in Jewel's - Goodbye Alice in Wonderland (a fav) and listen to the vocals and guitar work. Lots of room plenty of space for a 60" display Don't Tempt me . The nearly $6,000 I saved on the best price I could get on a Pioneer 60" paid for the speakers and Marantz 7002 - money well spent. I knew you were saving something big for the milestone and you didn't fail to deliver. You have no idea how hard it was not to post in the 2 weeks between 9999 and this being finished. Generally I don't care much about post counts but I figure 10k is a big number and I owe the forum something back for what it's given so far. Where did you get the entertainment unit from? It's a cheap and nasty (well not so nasty) Ikea job. This one to be precise. It's great as it holds 8 components and has adjustable shelving so fitting the AVR was a synch compared to some entertainment units (selling for a lot more too). Again, thanks for the positive comments both here and on the Blog.
geoff888 Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Your components cabinet looks like it is buckling under the weight of all you gear
momaw Posted May 11, 2008 Author Posted May 11, 2008 Your components cabinet looks like it is buckling under the weight of all you gear I looked at that pic too and thought . But I checked today and it's just the pic. The unit is flat and stable. Not sure what's with the pic (even the speaker seem to be leaning in at the top). Perhaps I've created an artificial gravity well
Chesty Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Well Mo having seen your old set up first hand, this really does look a huge step up for you. I noticed you have added some upgrades and nice choice on the Marantz 7002. It really looks awesome, very clean looking. Sharp indeed!! It must sound fantastic, you should be really proud. I know its been a long time coming for you so it must be a big relief to finally get in to the new unit and get a fully fledged set up. Well done!! Oh and congrats on the 10000 posts...

Guest Conifer Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 (edited) Looks nice and good to see you finally got it the way you wanted. Looks good and mounting of the TV also looks good. Like the BW Speakers as well! I have BW in Wall Speakers and 2 pairs of 603 and I really enjoying listening to the BW Speakers. Enjoy your setup Edited May 11, 2008 by Toet

Perhaps I've created an artificial gravity well Camera lenses have the ability to slightly warp images, as tey are usually not entirely flat.
Volunteer Kazz Posted May 11, 2008 Volunteer Posted May 11, 2008 I like the addition of the Billy bookshelves for the DVD's. Although I'm sure there are a few more sitting in boxes waiting to go in there........................
geoff888 Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 (edited) Camera lenses have the ability to slightly warp images, as tey are usually not entirely flat. Thanks for clearing that up. For a minute I though the gravitational field from his B&Ws had warped Time-Space. Nice systems btw to both of you... Edited May 11, 2008 by EndoGuy
kiwimeat Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Very nice, and most importantly you are happy with it. It's always very satisfying when it all comes together. I've been impressed by the reviews of the Oppo 983 and you certainly have been very positive about it (I believe the most accurate word would be "rave" ) but I can't quite justify upgrading from my current 981 at this time.
