Tarki Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 (edited) Hi all. So my dad bought a tv (Bravia X 46), and then a little bit later a sound system. Now at the time, we were unaware that we needed extra cables. The shop assistant told us that we need an HDMI cable, so we got that. Later we got home, and noticed that the normal TV shows didn't work on the speakers. A bit of investigation told me that I needed either a coaxial digital audio cable or an optical one. And, just my luck, the sound system we so ignorantly bought has neither input. So, I looked on the back of both the TV and the dvd player, and found that I could put those red and white cables into both. I thought that this would make the sound get projected into the speakers, so I got the cables from and old VCR, and nothing happened. The connections seem fine, and I went through a few options on the TV, choosing audio system for the sound (which resulted in silence), and inputs to variable and other seemingly relevant things. Nothing has worked so far. Is there a way to fix this? If the red/white cables could get the sound into the speakers, it would be perfect. Thanks very much. EDIT: Found the solution, it's actually in the manual. Edited May 10, 2008 by Tarki
