While driving up and down the QLD highways I often start thinking of how I navigate. For me its a case of way-points... drive to landmark A then to landmark B etc. I rarely know the names of the streets unless I happen to be particularly familiar with them. If I drive myself somewhere once, even under direction from others, I'll always be able to get back to the destination even several years later using way-points.

This can mean a trip of several hundred kilometres gets reduced to 3 steps.

I'm told that men and women employ different methods to get from A to B, so how do you do it?

Oh, women.. no need to mention upside down maps, putting on makeup while driving down the highway etc. That's a given part of female navigation. :P;)

anywhere that's not a shopping centre in a 20 minute radius, Mr Duck drives

Who drives the car south in winter?

I just get on a plane and 7 hours later get off on another continent and buy some Duty Free half the price they charge in Brisbane :D

After 2 bottles nobody gives a rats about navigating. <_<

If they want you that badly they will wait.

be thankful you're not in a big city.

We have roads that split often, so I may need to start over towards the left, after the road splits I may need to be on the right, etc, etc.

Like If I want to go to Sydney airport via the Sydney Harbour Tunnel, when I get onto the Warringah Freeway, I have to remember to stick to the right side of the road, otherwise I'll end up going over the Harbour Bridge instead of going through the harbour tunnel.

I generally plan the trip ahead and follow signs.

Dig...umm it doesnt matter ...really

Both the Tunnel and the Bridge meet up at the airport via the ED anyway. Bridge takes you to the Cahill and the Tunnel meets up with it anyway.

The only thing the Tunnel has going for it is that its dearer

even then I have to be to the very left to use the cahill Expressway, otherwise at the other end of the bridge, I'll either be taken to city-west link or into the city.
