Hey guys, my bro is having trouble with his tv so I thought I’d ask around online to get some opinions and hopefully some help. Ok so this all started with his rear projection tv, one day it just stopped working. The little red standby light was still on but it wouldn’t power up. If you tried to turn it on it would make the sound it makes when it starts up but then after ten seconds it would make the shutdown sound and that’s it.

So my brother figured it was a power supply issue and found another tv exactly the same with picture issues. He swapped over the power supply board I think it was but when he tried turning it on it blew.

So he sourced a third tv with picture issues. This time we done a little reading and found out it could be the IC’s, so we swapped our original IC board which was fine, with the defective one in the third tv. The picture was still out of whack, but much better than with the other IC board. I managed to get into the service menu in the hopes of finding some sort of value that would alter only the red, green or blue colours but 90% of whats in there is confusing as its not explained and mostly shorthand anyway.

So now we’re not sure what to do next. If we could figure out how to move the edges of each colour in and out our problem would be solved as the middle is fine and the horizontal alignment seems to be good too. Here’s a picture of how it looks at the moment. The blue could do with some clockwise angling too I think. Any ideas????

Oh and its an LG tv if that helps.

Here's a link to what it looks like

Yep, convergance fairly out of wack. May pay to get an LG service Agent to check it out!
