.....now I've just pulled the trigger on a dph-1 & I want to buy a usb powered hd so I can easilly move files between my comfuserer the dpp-1 & the dph-1 & not worry about the complication of an ext power pac

......I've got my eye on this http://www.lacie.com/au/products/product.htm?pid=10990

..... lacie mobile usb Hd

......but I'm also interested in any usb powered hd that is proven to work only on usb supplied power or even on a powered hub ...so if you can post proven one's that work I'd appreciate it :D

.........& thanx for that

......1 more question for those that may have an answer....

......the mybook wd hd that is connected to my dpp1 is partitioned in both fat32 & ntfs & does a great job for pvr transfers on the standard fat 32 format & 5gig vobs on the ntfs for dvd 1 to 1 movie copies......

.........I'm hoping I'll be able to do the same on the hd on the dp h-1..... has any one had any luck with Partitioned drives on the dph-1

......I'm going to try to replicate this fat 32 format as the internal drives on the DP-S1 and -P1, and external drives formatted for recording on the DP-H1 with "Register USB HDD" are formatted as FAT32 with a non-standard cluster size, it's much bigger @ 512kB......I'm hoping that I'll be able to do this special format & get a partition to work

.....If this doesn't work I guess I could always have a 2nd ntfs drive connected using the other usb port on the H-1 for my dvd movie's with their greater than 4 gig vobs

although this is in the Bwiz forum

Enhancement requests

1. Recording/playback enhancements:

(a) The ability to register a partition as the recording drive, rather than the whole hard drive.

.......Thanx in advance for any info.....

I'm surprised you have been able to partition the USB drive on the P1 and it still works. I thought that once you connected an external USB HDD, it had to be formatted by the BW into FAT32 and that it would format the whole drive, not just the partition.

As for compatible external HDDs, there's a pinned thread on compatible NAS drives but not USB powered ones from what I could see.
