Johno666 Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Hi all, i currently have a Onkyo 605 amp and a Dali Ikon subwoofer. On the back of the sub, i have 2 options on how i can hook it up to the amp, one is to hook it up via a single cable plugged into the LFE port on the sub and then back into the amp (crossover on sub will then be inactive), or i can plug a RCA cable from the L and R Line Outputs, which in turn makes the crossover frequencies dial active. Which will deliver the best results and why? Thanks (Currently i have it hooked up via the single cable)
geoff888 Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Anyone?? your current setup is fine esp. for HT (the other method is more for 2 channel). why don't you test both + see.
Meld Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 If your amp/receiver has a subwoofer RCA output, that is the most preferred connection method to use to connect to your sub. Your amp/receiver then acts as the crossover, and it only sends low-frequency sound to your sub. In this configuration you should turn the crossover frequency on your sub to its maximum position so you are not applying the high-cut filter twice. The stereo RCA input on your sub is there for compatibility with conventional stereo amps.
