regis169 Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 (edited) Hi guys, I have a B&W 5.1ch speaker setup at home and a Denon 3808 receiver. Just yesterday, I've finished setting up the system with Audyssey EQ XT auto setup on my Denon. I have a PV1 subwoofer. (http://www.bowers-wilkins.com/display.aspx?infid=1474) And on my subwoofer, there are two controls in which you can change. Volume control & Low-Pass Frequency control (40Hz, 45Hz, 50Hz, 60Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz and 140Hz) ----- Here are my newbie question, 1. Do you normally turn up the volume of the subwoofer to max? or to 80% or 50% when watching a movie? 2. What is the optimum frequency of the sub that I have to set? I currently set it at 90Hz. (My front speakers are set at 80Hz) Thanks for any tips in advance, Edited May 8, 2008 by regis169
ajm1503559545 Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Rule of thumb: 1. turn the volume up about half-way then use the AVR calibration. 2. wind the feq knob on the sub all the way out and let the AVR manage the cross over points. ATM you have the sub cross over set higher than the AVR which should be fine it's much simpler to let the AVR manage this.
dvduser Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 1. Do you normally turn up the volume of the subwoofer to max? - no or to 80% or 50% when watching a movie? - around 30% & let the 3808 adjust during the setup2. What is the optimum frequency of the sub that I have to set? I currently set it at 90Hz. (My front speakers are set at 80Hz) - set the 3808 to do the x-over @ 80, and adjust sub x-over all the way up as far as it will go Let the 3808 do all the processing and just feed the sub what it needs to get.
