Drizt Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 Can't get the thing to work at all.... We have two HD STB's working perfectly in our house, and i can't for the life of me get this Dvico working at all. It scans and finds all stations other than 7's. (wierd... finds them fine or the HD STB's). When you select a station it seems to fluctuate a lot in receptions but even if its hovering around 96% there is no picture at all... and only a blip of sound at random intervals ... like minutes apart. Any idea's ? Is it a take it back job? What should I replace it with?
betty boop Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 ch 7 can be funny as there can be multiple towers to pick up from. with a new setop box I've had it has at times not picked up 7 and a rescan has fixed it. also had to do rescans at times where its picked up further away towers with not so good reception. something a rescan has again fixed for me usually. If a rescan doesnt work, I'd take it back and try something else. maybe pm/talk to "renura" his website is below. I know in the early days his support for the dvico fusion I had was exemplary. its still going fine. not sure if he will be able to help with your dvico. but regardless I'm sure he could suggest something better and help you get it up and running. http://www.digitalnow.com.au/

With the return you speak of above, are you just getting the exact same card in exchange? Or something different? Reason i ask is if they have problems due to a design fault how do you know the exchanged one will not be buggered aswell ? I'm trying to get it returned to MSY as that where we bought the new computer from yesterday. If they try and pull the you have to have it in the original packaging (which they did not give me, or ask if i wanted it) then ill have to kick up a stink.

Sorry A , I should have been clearer , the replacement cards have been modified by Dvico .Folk are still reporting probs with the modded cards so I would just return it and save yourself a lot of hassle. The Hauppage hvr 2200 cards seem to be the least problematical as long as you are not in a poor reception area. Gordon
Drizt Posted May 6, 2008 Author Posted May 6, 2008 Thanks mate. Ill have a look into the card you mentioned. I have also been recommended this one -> http://www.digitalnow.com.au/product_pages/TinyTwin.html Sorry A , I should have been clearer , the replacement cards have been modified by Dvico .Folk are still reporting probs with the modded cards so I would just return it and save yourself a lot of hassle. The Hauppage hvr 2200 cards seem to be the least problematical as long as you are not in a poor reception area. Drizt Posted May 6, 2008 Author Posted May 6, 2008 MSY are going to honour the refund. Thank goodness... Anyone have any further suggestions / recommendations for a replacement ?

I have noticed that with a few DVB-T cards getting seven to work can be an issue. I have found that a lot of cards battle to auto detect the bandwdth of the signal. If your software allows you to enter the tuning parameters manually set the bandwidth to seven megahertz and it normally scans just fine.
Drizt Posted May 6, 2008 Author Posted May 6, 2008 Go the Hauppage 2200 card mate. It works. Super fast channel changes too Thanks mate... long time no see. How is it for reception? Good in less than perfect area's ? Does it come with good software / remote etc?
digitaladvisor Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 I do have a dual DIVCO. It exhibits simular issues mentioned. As duals came out they were a grave mistake by the manufacturer. Trusting a certain OEM company to fit correct components has back fired and will cost them alot of money. I have the first mono tuner DIVCO that came out [sold by Renura] and its delivery and stability is excellent. It would now appear that a huge batch of them [dual DIVCOS ] have flawed components on them. Now I do have a very good experience with dual cards - the ones are by Pinnacle and WORK with virtually any BDA compliant software front end you can throw at them. On my other list would be TESTED dual tuners by RENURA that he sells. DA

It is a card only mate intended for use with XP or Vista Media Centre or DVBViewer etc. No remote either. I use my Logitec Harmony to control everything. Reception is fine I think. No issues there.

Does it have a IR reciever or do you use some PC program + external IR reciever to control the channels ? Sorry maybe im missing something.
Redboy Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 I'm sorry to say Fusion sucks. My friend has one and yuck problems a lot

Hi A, I use a harmony remote and in my case the reciever is part of the Antec case but my understanding is that if you don't already have a case with an ir reciever you just buy the Microsoft remote and reciever ($34) and install the appropriate settings in the Harmony and chuck the Microsoft handset in a drawer. Guest decay Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 I have this card (pci version) and it works well (even though my pc is a very old p4 1.6), except some times channel nine recordings have errors. but no problems with viewing. The drivers that came with the card were crap but a clean install with the update drivers from the net fixed it up. I presume you have tried a clean install with the latest drivers?

therat Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Not sure if anyone is interested but a guy over at XPmedia was having problems with his DD4 (like just about everyone else) so he popped it into a linux box with mythbuntu and it now works like a charm with zero problems. So if you own a DD4, instead of tossing it in the rubbish, and have a spare PC around, install mythbuntu on it and pop the DD4 in it. cheers

Dogbert Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 I also have a pci Dvb-t Dual 4, it is a pain to get both tuners working. Luckily I ghosted my system after a clean successful reinstall with an earlier driver version 3.63. I still have the occasional recording failure (through webscheduler) where it just records a whole scrambled mess of blocks. When I tried to update to the newest version (3.68) the other day, my second tuner was gone again, with the error “device cannot start(10)” in the device manager. Ghosted back my working system. Would love to find a better dual tuner to replace it, I think I blew my $$ on this card. Andrew
