Hi,

Posted in the thread Foxtel on two tvs from one STB, but my post was long and rambling. Sorry about that! I hope this one is a bit clearer and an easier read.

I've been reading lots of the posts about sharing the Foxtel from one STB to other TVs. I'm about to instal a new antenna as we have purchased a Sony sxrd 70" full HD TV and can only get 2 of the HD channels, i.e. 7 and 9 . I've asked the installer to also rig up coax from two Foxtel units - Foxtel IQ hooked up to Sony 70" sxrd in lounge, and a Foxtel PACE DC420NF hooked up to Sony Trinitron 32" widescreen (SD digital only) in bedroom. I have two other T.V.s (cheapie sets non-digital, non widescreen) in house I'd like to share these signals with.

Aussyspeed mentioned using tvlink devices from UK FOXTEL IQ Multi-Room Rmote Kit. Does anyone know exactly which brand tvlink from UK can be used here in Australia? Also, has anyone purchased from Ebay and if so, any chance of an ebay link?

I've checked out the multiple TV set-up diagrams on the tvlink page Aussyspeed posted, but it does not explain much when variables are thrown in, i.e. porting signals from two Foxtel units (one IQ and the other standard DC420NF). Also, in the UK I believe they use satellite, so I'm not sure what to go for and what to avoid so it can be used here in Australia. I have Foxtel digital cable in Prahran, Melbourne.

Which tvlink device can be used in Australia for watching IQ on secondary tvs and which tvlink device (if it's even possible) for watching the standard DC420NF on secondary tv, or is best option just to use remote extender only (there are ones that look like a pyramid that plug into AC outlet in both sending and receiving room - think they are called Pmid, plus Jaycar have some similar for around $49.00 a set I believe).

My understanding is that tvlink device can be used only for the IQ setup to other T.V.s, but this will not work for the standard DC420NF relay to other T.V.s. and that I would have to use a remote extender to change the channels using Foxtel remote control on other T.V.s. Having both IQ and standard Foxtel boxes means we can choose different channels. Would have been easier to get second IQ box in bedroom but Foxtel costs are getting expensive (Platinum, extra STB, $10 month IQ fee). With the coax system the guys can watch footy and stuff throughout the house and I can watch lifestyle and the W channel (LOL).

My installer said he would recommend T.V. outlets from new antenna in all rooms, and that he would use splitters and such from the antenna to feed Foxtel signals into all rooms. Said he will tune channels on tvs for watching Foxtel feeds. Also said something about needing to check if signal from Foxtel RF out was strong enough (I have one Kingray booster amplifier thingy with AC plug - so hope that could be used if necessary).

With the Foxtel IQ feed into other rooms, is it possible to use all the features such as selecting shows to be recorded via the remote control?

It all gets a big confusing for my female brain plus the $$$ add up if you don't know what you are doing.

Any extra advice would be greatly appreciated - especially from anyone who has got this type of system already hooked up. Also, a special thanks to Aussyspeed for information on tvlink stuff.

ozgal
