andsim168 Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 I'm a very happy owner of a 50MXE20. I had mine for almost 2 weeks now, I was thinking of getting the 507 but when i saw the 50MXE20 well you know which one i got. No kidding for the extra money buy the 50MXE20 you wont regret it (plus you get free calibration). And from what i heard after the calibration PQ is much better than what it is now.
Ever Pro Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Hi mate just bought one today, had only previously seen the domestic model live, basically went off info from this site raving abouts the pic. What cables are you using ?, STB and HDD ? any hints for set up or use for the for 100 hrs. Have more but little time. Thanks X - Man
JoshH Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Make sure you guys get them calibrated - 50MXE20's come with FREE ISF calibration to the value of $400. Contact Pioneer for details or PM me and I can put you in touch with their calibrator. Calibrated the MXE20 is stunning.

THe Big Picture People HIGHLY recommend the DigitalView DVH-505 STB. Apparently Aaron from Avical loves this combo of panel and STB. I think $30-70 component and HDMI->DVI cables are ideal. Forget the $300 Monsters and the like.

I got a call for Aaron the next day. They like to have the plasma 'run-in' for about a month before getting the calibration done. Mine is scheduled for June.

I am well aware of that - however a number of retailers deont bother to pass on the info and dont do the right thing by the client - which is why I mentioned it.

Are you saying that many retailers of the MXE20 commercials are not telling their clients that they are entitled to the calibration?

Joecool Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Pioneer Pdp-50mxe20 For Sale Lyle From what I understand, Russell is in Sydney. To get it to Vic, he wants another $300. BPP do it at around the same price.

Yeah Joe is right, if he did get it from Russell, when you factor in shipping the prices are around the same. And for the risk of interstate delivery I don't think its worth it. (I'd be interested to know if anybody has dealt with Russell outside of NSW and how their deal went?) Good deal for all you people in NSW though!

Yes that was the same for shipping to Perth. No installation and no come-back on support and other issues made it a no brainer for me. Also there was the issue of the ISF calibration. I was happy to deal locally and support one of the local specialist shops. In the end I got excellent service and all cables supplied (had to pay for the cables of course) and installation and all devices configured. I certainly did not mind paying 10% more for the peace of mind (and ongoing support). Plus I know I will get good service on any future purchases. However, locally in Sydney I believe you get the install included in the price. Bottom line: Price is NOT everything. I think that sometimes people chase the saving of a few dollars a bit too hard.
