Hey

Just wondering if anyone owns one of these DVD Players. Noticed one today @ JB HI FI for $99 and want to know how it goes before I get one. If someone could let me know would be great!

Thanks in advance!

Just after some info on it thats all, wanna know if its worth the buy (Is it any good)

Don't know about this particular Soniq product, but not a lot of raves about their other gear (some good, some ugly). Maybe look for positive reviews of other brands and be guided by them and maybe be prepared to pay a few more $$ for a known good one. FWIW I had a Magnavox cheapie from BigW ($99) that was good though no HDMI but Component was excellent - sadly gave it away when I bought an LG upscaling HDMI player ($150ish) that did DivX, XVid, WMV, AVIs, multi card reader, in fact everything until it died 4 weeks ago. Is now in hospital under warranty waiting for even more parts after the first attempt at fixing failed. Will be looking at 5 - 6 weeks before its back The repair place has 60 LG DVD players in for repair under warranty at the moment and said over 80% of all repairs are LG! Maybe one to avoid....

I was looking for a cheap DVD Player with HDMI & DIVX and your note on this website regarding a Soniq Player with DIVX playback alerted me, so I purchased one yesterday for $78 and after trying it out am quite impressed with its performance - The TV it is connected to is the Samsung 82cm 32"LCD High Def TV & I connected it using HDMI Cable as well as AV in & the 16:9 picture (which can be chaged on set up to Letter Box or 4:3) and the result was very good. It is amazing how many features can be crammed into a $78 machine - It also has a multi Memory card input in the front, so you can view your photos on the TV. I tested it on normal DVDs as well as on DIVX discs & the 16:9 picture was perfect

Normally I would hesitate buying an article on which the performance was unknown from JB Hi Fi as they have a no return policy for change of mind or disattisfied with performance (unless possibly you swop it for a more expensive item) & would rather buy from Dick Smith as they have a 14 day change of mind refund policy, which is great if you are not satisfied with the article. However, as Soniq is a JB Hi Fi brand name & not available from Dick Smith I bought it, as it had all the features I was looking for and all I would loose would be a modest $78.00

So far so good, but it remains to be seen as to how long it will last - I previously bought a Sonwa DVD Player from Coles about 2 years ago & it still performs well so maybe no need to go for expensive brand names for DVD as the technology is easy to reproduce without problems

Thanks for the tip

Anyone got one? They are now $79.oo @ JB HiFi
