franin Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 Does anyone know how much a Lexicon MC-12 HD price is ? cannot seem to find anywhere.Where do they sell them in Perth?
big_marcelo Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 Does anyone know how much a Lexicon MC-12 HD price is ? cannot seem to find anywhere.Where do they sell them in Perth? I don't think these guys are easy to find in Australia .... price tag approaching $10k should narrow down your store options.... also, as fantastic as it is for large & complex set ups, this version still doesn't accept 1080p input... if you are keen I'd suggest to do a search in the AVS forums in the US... lots of info there on them, including international sellers, etc...
betty boop Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 Does anyone know how much a Lexicon MC-12 HD price is ? cannot seem to find anywhere.Where do they sell them in Perth? never heard of the 'HD' version. and not sure the price on the MC-12. the basic MC-8 I know could be had for $8k a few years back when I explored. you could check with intersound in melb or len wallis in sydney. I can imagine the mc-12 beign a pricey thing. also it doesnt have hdmi or any of the new fancy surround formats unless this is some new updated model your talking about franin.

franin Posted April 29, 2007 Author Posted April 29, 2007 I was looking at the nad masters series but it only does video switching through hdmi-silly.
CustomHT Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 Thanks! Im looking at pre/pro also.I was looking at rotel, but they don't have hdmi.Any suggestion? Thats my current problem.. Thinking i'll just use my current yamaha receiver with a power amp until newer pre/pros come out with hdmi 1.3 But for me it wont solve my problems as my receiver was model before hdmi came out.. So just a temporary solution i guess..

So just a temporary solution i guess.. I think a few people in the forum have gone this way - using the yamaha as a switcher/processor (specially for Video stuff) and a power amp (rotel/Elektra) ... seems like a great combo .... my next audio upgrade will probably be a rotel amplifier.... to match to my yamaha .... I have a dedicated video scaler which copes with 1080p.... so the lexican would be wasted on me (as expensive as it would be...) ...
lucmor444 Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 A few 2nd hand units have started to appear on Audiogon -around $US8500 - $US9500. They have a universal power supply so are OK for Australia. I just don't know whether they would be that much better than your Denon.

Spero D. Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 I did a bit more research today and I will keep what I have. Definetly keep the Denon over the Lexicon. There is only one Pre/Pro that slightly would interest me and that is the Anthem D2. Personally I am waiting for the new Denon Receivers coming in July with 1080P switching, HDMI 1.3 compatitble, onboard DTS-HD and Dolby True-HD decoding, and Audyssey Room EQ etc to use as a Pre-amp to replace my current AVR-4806 which I only use as a Pre-Amp.
betty boop Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 now is really not the best time to be buying a big dollar avr or pre-pro. unless your a serial upgrader, or the thing your buying could be easily be upgraded in itself. so much new stuff coming, and so much just so still up in the air.
JoshH Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 unless your a serial upgrader Queity.. raises hand On the fence and close to ordering the Cary Audio www.caryaudio.com 5B 200 watt by 5 Power amplifier and Cary Audio Cinema 11 Processor. Give me a nudge and I will fall off the fence and place the order. Gear I have ALWAYS wanted - never been able to afford [still cant really] and just some of the best sounding audio equipment I have ever heard at ay price. Better than the THETA dreadnaught / Casablanca III IMO.

JoshH Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 They look impressive.. so what sorta price range they in?I'm guessing proberly way out of mine Probably not as bad as you might think - around $7500 Aussie for the power amp and about the same for the processor. Half the price of the THETA gear.

Looks impressive.Have heard the rotel at benthx house last week i was impressed by the warm sound it delivered, mind you this was no hd sound but it was very impressive.I was looking at the Nad masters series as the power amp sounded sensational.

Very nice gear WORX A4; Its too bad hdmi technology means the hd dvd/blu player has to decode the dolby true hd/dts hd ma to feed the 7.1 multi channel input on the processor. If it had hdmi those high quality dac's would be perfect. Its a problem that hi end manufacturers dont change lines that often. The 7 channel power amp would tempt if I had a pre/pro

I am reliably informed HDMI is coming as an in field upgrade - so not too concering.
