Hi all,

I want to move my equipment to another location (for the LCD display) but I don't want to run alot of cables, so I was thinking of the following:

Gefen Scaler Plus

I could connect ereything to it and run just one HDMI cable to the display.

It's a pre-order, but does anyone know where I might get one here in OZ ? (or a good cheap DVDO)

The receiver I use does not have HDMI out

Thanks

Steve

Here is the contact details of their Australian Distributor from their web site.

It looks like a really interesting product

I purchased the HT Scaler (not Plus) direct from Gefen. Works very well, the 1,080p upscaling to the Sharp LC45-G1X is pretty good - although you'll need to adjust your sound delays as the video processing slows things down a touch.

Occasionally you have to cycle inputs as it sometimes seems to drop the signal in - but apart from that no issues.

I would happily buy direct again - and save the middleman's margin.

Hi Willyroo - do you know if this box can do refresh rate conversion as well (specifically 1080i @50khz to 1080i @ 60khz)? The website and manual suggest that it supports both 50/60khz signals but gives no detail on whether or not it can convert the two.

I have no idea sorry - everything 1,080 at my house goes into it @ 60kHz. The menu certainly allows you to set the default output at anything from 480i to 1,080p (50 and 60), so my tentative guess would be "yes".

It does seem to be smart enough to adapt to the resolution of the screen if you choose "default". If I plug it into the AVC it outputs at 1,080i, if I plug it directly in to the panel it outputs @ 1,080p.
