Anton-P. Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 I have read that you were successful with a Samsung 400GB but I couldn't buy one in Perth so I settled for a WD 320GB, making sure it's the 8MB cache version. But it seems no go. It does come up asking me to Format HDD, then just shuts down after about 20 seconds. I've tried various configs Master, Slave, Cable Select on the hdd ... all the same result. Is there anything else I shoud try? One thing I noticed is on power up it shows LST 5403 on the front display (put the old hdd back it shows 5402). Is that a good clue why it doesn't work, does your machine show 03 or 02 with the 400GB? Thanks

pgdownload Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 Hi Anton, Sounds like this post used to be somewhere else? The critical thing when upgrading a drive is the power consumption. Can't work out what they are without you posting model numbers. You should also have some power numbers written on each drive. Regards Peter Gillespie NB There's no real logic to power consumption in drives that I can see - faster, larger, etc drives might have a fifth of their slower bretheren (or visa versa)
