I'm selling my 3 week old Elektra Theatron 7 channel amp. It's one amazing sounding amp and i'm going to miss it. The reason i'm selling is so i can buy a new plasma panel after my 5 year old 42" Fuji clapped out on me a few days ago. It's had about 10 hours use. I'm looking for $2800 for this "near new" unit.

Melbourne, can ship.

I think that's a great price! They're about $4k new aren't they? If I wasn't trying to pounce on barnbj's 8720, I'd buy it in a flash! I've already told John I'd buy his if he ever wanted to sell.

What sort of payment plan do you have Nightbreed? :D

Cheers,

Chris

Sounds like a great deal then..

I know its not going to do this amp justice and may be abit of an insult to elektra owners but i'd be looking at running this amp with a yamaha v1500 receiver as the processor.. Can anyone see any problems running it of that for the time being?

As im waiting for rotel to release a new processor with hdmi..

Unless someone could suggest another model of processor with hdmi??

Thanks Scott

I'm using a hk AVR630 as a pre-pro, know someone else using a denon 3805 as a pre-pro. Mid price AVRs I've found actually make quite good pre-pros, know there are a few running a yam avr as a pre-pro.

heres a coupel of posts worth a read and have myself found to ring very true.

Hi scott, it's really up to how long you are prepared to wait. Although Rotel may release a processor that does HDMI (which have been out for years) I would be checking for HDMI 1.3 functionality and the ability to decode the new HD formats. In those instances I don't have much faith that there'll be anything out in the near future from Rotel. They tend to be market followers in this sense.

good luck with the Elektra they are brilliant amps and it will be one thing in your system you won't be getting 'upgradeitits' with in a hurry!

Hi Scott,

The RXV 1500 will run the pre section to the Eleektra just fine. I used to use a 1500 myself and ran it into a 2ch power amp for my mains L & R. My Old Man also ran a 2500 (next model up but pretty well identical in the audio side) as a pre only and it worked fine for him too. That being said once the AVR was replaced with a decent pre-amp the gains were significant and instantly noticeable. The pre section on mid range AVRs is definately a weak spot, but it's more an area that can allow great improvement than a drastic problem (kinda like you won't know what you were missing till you upgrade!).

Best of luck - and it's a STEAL

True but retailers are selling it for less. I was given a $3K price over the phone a couple of weeks back.
White anting a FS thread is NOT good form.

Was NOT my intention. Other FS threads have similar posts on current market sale prices.

I don't agree with them either.

Well im sad to say I'm gonna have to pull out of this for the time being due to the cost of getting it posted over to W.A with insurance.. Good luck with the sale tho.. Sure someone will snap it up at this price..

On a side note does anyone know of a retailer who sells this amp over in W.A??

Or where have use W.A guys sourced yours from?

Cheers Scott

I can't believe it would be THAT expensive to ship.

These kind of amps get shipped around all the time.

Maybe a quick flight over East would be a good idea?

I just had 20kg worth of rotel amplifier shipped up from melbourne at a cost of $21 or so (as the sticker on the box would have me beleive). I was charged $33 from the ebayer however it was very well packed and secured and at that price I still think it's reasonable. Got here in about 3 working days (Sydney)

Something to consider for the blokes thinking about having it posted insterstate.
