Ok, so i took the laptop in and tested the LG out, worked great, bought it then and there, couldn't be happier.

My only gripe is that it stretches the SD tv to fit the screen, watchable, but slightly annoying, i'll grab a HD STB eventually to fix that.

.

SDTV would be approx 40% of your screen real estate at 1:1.....so you'd be watching a 32cm TV.

Managed to get the price down to $1150, from $1300, which was the sale price.

360 over component looks spectacular, DVDs play to my expectations, and watching DIVX movies over it looks surprisingly good as well.

I Highly recommend the LG 32LC2R to anyone, and getting it for only 150 bucks more then the Aiko, can't go wrong.

I was quoted $1168 with 5 year warranty for the LG 32LC2R today from my local Bing Lee at Campbelltown.

Very tempting

Best prices for the Sony 42" 1280x720 3LCD rear pro is $1000 and $200 for the Sony DSTHD500 HD-STB.

You beat me! I was just going to suggest this exact option. I can assure you the 3LCD will not dissapoint and would more then liking out perform any of the budget LCD's. and best of all you have yourself a 42" screen!

I was a little concerned at first about going from an LCD display to a rear pro (Veiwing angles, lamp, size etc) however all of these were quickly put to rest after setting it up, and enjoying the picture of the 3LCD (mines a fifty) I still can't get over the quality for the price!!

Just my few cents,

Disco.

DVD Looks stunning IMO, Foxtel ranges from horrible to good depending on the program as with any display with pay tv. Movies on foxtel generally look good, not dvd quality but faily close.

OK now, i'm officially extremely happy with this tv now. Discovered last night the ACR (Aspect Control Ratio?) button on the remote/in the menu.

Free to air TV now looks awesome.

One question though, is all FTA in 4:3? I was watching a bit of big brother up late night night and noticed that it had the sides cut off no matter what Aspect Ratio i set the tv too. It looked like it was supposed to be a 16:9 picture, is it just that Ten didn't bother with a proper analogue tuner picture for it? or something else.

Thanks

If you are watching FTA TV using an analog tuner, then the only available aspect ratio is 4:3.

Digital FTA TV can be either 4:3, or 16:9 (widescreen) depending on the original aspect ratio of the programme being broadcast.
