dryfry Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 Funding for Access31 - Perth’s community TV station WA Premier Alan Carpenter has announced $600 thousand dollars funding to secure the future of Access31 - Perth’s free-to-air and only licensed community television station. Mr Carpenter said the one-off State Government funding would ensure the station’s ongoing viability and capability toward digital transmission. By 2009 , Access31 should be self-sustainable and have full digital capability, subject to the Federal Government’s commitment to Australian community broadcasters.”
tomohawk Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 Will they have any content worth broadcasting however?

Trigg Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 Ch 31 does have some good content. Has some good locally produced programming
dryfry Posted April 24, 2007 Author Posted April 24, 2007 Access does have some good programmes like WAFL On and Cruisin plus the BBC World news.It would be nice to watch those programmes without snow. The funding story came from mediastatements.wa.gov.au
betty boop Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 What funding or content? both hehe ! seriously community tv is a good thing, but a bit lost on analog and like wA for melb hope someoen has the forsight to brign it over to digital.
Santa1503559644 Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 CTV Perth has some decent stuff (well, they used to - I stopped watching years ago). However, as I've mentioned before - I don't think they should receive taxpayer handouts if they are still doing dodgy backhander deals with shady businesses, and running all those perverted fundamentalist bible belt shows! OTOH - if they dropped the shyte, they'd be a welcome addition to digital (even if they run the same 6 movies for years!)
austruckie Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 both hehe ! seriously community tv is a good thing, but a bit lost on analog and like wA for melb hope someoen has the forsight to brign it over to digital. I have only seen briz 31 and TVS sydney and briz leaves TVS for dead which is a bit sad as so much potential wasted, hope in other states it is more like briz
laurie Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Out of curiosity what will $600,000 buy today in digital equipement cheers laurie
Paulo1503561023 Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Great news. I miss watching the odd C31 programs since I went digital.
matturn Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 Great news.I miss watching the odd C31 programs since I went digital. The proposal won't give C31 a licence for a new frequency for digital broadcasting. There's a lot of wait-and-see for what going to happen to Channel A.
alanh Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 All, The DCITA's view is to use one of the multiplexes in the new channel A licence. The ABC uses one multiplex for SD ABC, another for HD ABC, and another for ABC. They are all transmitted on channel 12. Channel A will be on one of the following channels: 32, 35, 38 or 27. AlanH
