Hi,

I'm about to buy a Pioneer PDP-507XDA and wonder if it is possible to connect its speaker to my SONY AV-Receiver as the Center speaker, instead of connecting to the TV.

I have a set of Mirage speakers but might not be easilly able to use the Mirage center speaker with the Pioneer Plasma because of cabinet issues. So I figured I might be able to use the Pioneer speaker for this instead.

If you always use the HT you could connect the optical cable from the PDP to the receiver, and then connect the Pioneer speakers directly to the receiver's centre speaker binding post. It means you HAVE to turn on the receiver to receive sound, and tone wise they will be different to your current speakers.

Personally I wouldn't. The Pioneer has a great sound standard. Instead, for TV I would use just the Pioneer speakers with an optical cable to the receiver if always want the extra volume.

For DVD and everything else, get a Y RCA cable and run the centre pre-out (from the receiver) into the L/R input of your DVD input. This will let you run the centre channel through the stereo speakers, and your existing speakers/receiver for the rest.

Thanks for the reply. I always run the HT when watching TV. The DVD, PVR and TV all go through the HT Receiver. It also switches Video, but doesn't have HDMI. I don't have any HiDef sources yet so that isn't an issue. This gives much better sound than my current Loewe TV and I would assume the PDP.
