liveonimpulse Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Hi all I have been seeing the ten AFL advertisements where sat night games are in full HD and surround sound. I have my amp connected to the digital out of my X series bravia TV and cannot seem to get 5.1 channel surround sound. Does any one know of a setting on how to do this. Also is there any way of knowing the number of hours watched on this TV. Thanks for looking.

To date they have only been broadcasting in 2.0, hence the reason you havent been able to extract your 5.1 surround sound.
Dean Murphy Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Yes. I get 5.1 from my Bravia 46X in some movies when this is transmitted.
liveonimpulse Posted April 20, 2007 Author Posted April 20, 2007 Yes. I get 5.1 from my Bravia 46X in some movies when this is transmitted. Did you have to change any settings, for this to happen in the audio section, or did you AMP recognize it straight away
Dean Murphy Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 I have a Bravia 40X by the way (not a 46 - I wish). It is aotomatic. Not a lot of contact is in 5.1. I remember Harry Potter screening in 5.1
LeighC Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 (edited) Hi, in regards to the hour meter I've got part of the solutiuon but I haven't found the hour meter. To get into the service menu try this : in standby mode, with the remote facing the tv and not roo much delay between keypresses : press i+ 5 volume up teletext (under the 7 button) power on from here I would have thought you'd find the hour meter but as you'll find there seems to be quite a few screens. they seem to be driven through the number keypad. It looks like there's great potential to really stuff your screen config in here so take caution .... I wouldn't know how to assist in fixing anything in here. try the above sequence but use the volume down, gives a different self check screen. I was interested in finding the running time of my 46X when I purchased it as it was floor stock. I was assured it had only been there a week and it wasn't covered in finger prints so was probably correct (at least I was sure it didn't suffer from the black/clouding issues) the above may lead this threat off topic but if anyone knows some more about the service options can you post it Edited April 22, 2007 by LeighC

Guest monyx1503561217 Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 On a related note, does the X-series pass through an anlogue audio input to its analogue L/R out? Have an Xbox connected to component with analogue L/R in, had hoped to have a choice of using tv speakers or surround amp by way of feeding audio out from Bravia to amp when the xbox input is selected.
