Thanks Lyle. Yeah, I saw they had the 525. I really want the 785 though. I'll give Retra a call. I'll use eBay if the prices here are insane, which is usually the case...

Austin computers have 5 in stock at both Osborne Park and Cannington, currently $259.

Also, online Nintek ($249) or Simline ($253) deliver for free locally.

Thanks Andrew. I might just use that Simline mob. They're not far from me. I want to get my grubby mitts on one today if possible, and thats only $20 more than the cheapest price in Aus. cheers

Yes, I know. I bought the 525 because I was sceptical about how good they are and did not want to blow a bunch of money. But I soon found out how fantastic these things are and now wish I had a bit better one (6 activities viewed at once instead of 4) etc. There seem to be an increasing number of model numbers and it's hard to keep track of what is the latest or greatest. I've read a lot of good comments about the 880. Don't know much about the 785. The 525 feels a bit fragile sometimes, like it might break, but so far it has not. Now I have XP it is so much easier to programme (Had a lot of problems with Windows 2000 Pro and the 525 - put me off for quite awhile).

Dropped by HN in Melb CBD yesterday and the 785 was selling for $369. I walked out immediately after that.

The 880 has actually been superseded by the 785.

Strange isn't it ?

I think the 880 may have been withdrawn due to the battery charger problems etc.

Andrew.

The 880 in my opinion was a waste of cash...mine was pronounced dead earlier this year due to the stupid charging station. I literally had to keep a book ontop of it so that the pins would connect.

Hoping the 785 has fixed this issue, which i believe it has. Funny though that the model numbers dont go up, as it replaces the old model eg. 885 or something

In the U.S they have an 890 model replacing the 880....

P.S. Love my 785. Wish it had 8 activity buttons like the 880 and other re-branded models(HK), but besides that it's the best thing i could have ever bought to go with my HT.

Just picked up the 785. 2 hours after I started this thread  $250 at Austin. Not the best price, but I'd rather have it now than wait 5 days and save $20...

Yeah, I'm happy. Shop price was $262, dearer than online. I smashed him down to $250 with my mind control power! I am so hopeless at bargaining...

hahah you should have used your mind control to get me to call my mate at JB's mwahahaha..

Thats pretty good tho, austins cost would have been around $245-247

You will be happy with the 785. My initial one was faulty out of the box......the time never worked and would not go into standby mode. The replacement was fine and has been working perfectly since. Only awkward thing I find with it is that it can be a bit tricky lining the remote up with the cradle's charging sensor/contacts.

Same problem with 880 club. Had mine replaced the new one is a lot better, but not perfect.

Good deal. I reckon it's always better to have a shop that you can physically return it to if any problems devlop. Online buys can sometimes be difficult to return.

Also, I can never understand it when people drive around to various shops for a day just to save $10 -20.

Same thing when spending $5k, what's a couple of hundred dollars.

There WAS also an 885 in Europe that had the four hard coloured buttons (a la foxtel, teletext buttons). (The harmony europe website pics of the 885 are actually the 880, as is the 'product tour'). While the 785 has the coloured buttons, it does have the smaller LCD=less soft buttons. I'd still go with 785 now, having gotten foxtel since the 880.

haha i'd drive an extra 30kms to save $200-300 - think of the johnny walker that would pay for !!!

although in my phoon prolly $50 would go to fuel because i'd be leadfooting in anticipation of a new toy hahaha

Would really like to check out one of these just for interests sake....

Has 8 activity buttons, but i see it's missing the coloured buttons.
