absolutezero Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 I'm not sure how, but New Zealand seems to be able to get the exact same discs as us, but cheaper. http://www.marbecks.co.nz/dvd/hddvd-new.lsd Check it out for yourself. Might be the place to buy.

kamma Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 and now for the best part GST Exemption All prices contain 12.5% goods and services tax. GST is automatically deducted from the checkout total on all export orders.
Mining Man Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Has anybody priced up shipping? For the trusting amongst you, I am flying to Sydney next Wednesday 25th, and then doing the road trip to Adelaide (via Melbourne) on Saturday 28th (wedding in Adelaide on 5th May). Might be an option, if it can be delivered to me in Tauranga (Bay of Plenty, North Island) before Wednesday.
AndrewW Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Has anybody priced up shipping? NZ$8 for the first disc and NZ$2 for each disc after that Works out at AU$7.12 + $1.80 per extra disc. Considering the catalogue titles work out at AU$22.50 each after removing the GST, this could be quite a cheap way of obtaining the discs. Its a pity that I already own all the titles that they carry that I am interested in Andrew.

Might be the place to buy. Marbecks was the top vinyl store 30+ years ago when I lived there - in Queen St Auckland To survive so long, their great service and product rnge must have survived the test of time I'd have no hesitation buying from them Whether this route is cheaper than the DVD Pacific route I took earlier this week I'm not sure. The NZD is at an all time high vs the USD and even moreso than the AUD - go figure
Spearmint Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 I’ve bought audio disc’s from Marbec’s on several occasions. About the only complaint I have with them is not all titles have been ex-stock, the site does not indicate if the titles are ex-stock or not.
SKG Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 ok, whos going to try them out? Just put in a order, let's see how long it takes. Steve
AndrewW Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Well done SKG, was hoping someone would try before Andrew as whatever he orders online turns to crap not entirely true amazon and dvdpacific have been fine Andrew.
SKG Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Well I ordered the 3 Fast and the Furious movies. Amazon are good, DVD Pacific are great (I remember Brad and Laser Video Vision) How's this, made a pre-order for A Scanner Darkly on Blu-Ray on the 14th march (release date was 10 April) from DVDBoxoffice and still nothing and the site was 14+ days WTF ?? I think that's the last time I get it from them.
attilathepun Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 I ordered two BD from Amazon, shipped on 29 March 2007. They estimated a delivery time of between 12 April and 19 April. They arrived on 19 April - I can't really complain then I guess. I might give dvdpacific a go next.

I wonder if they are going to get titles which are normally only available in Europe? Amazon.co.uk is still pretty pricey in comparisson to amazon.com .... ie: I would like to get 'la haine' & 'harry potter series' which they have in europe already ...
peep Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Well done SKG, was hoping someone would try before Andrew as whatever he orders online turns to crap this is the first time i have cracked up laughing on this site, found this very funny, peep.
SKG Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Just a update, I had to cancel my order due to the following: Hello SteveThanks for your patience. Unfortunately Universal Pictures has just announced a major price increase for all HD DVD titles. The price for your 2 Fast 2 Furious (HD DVD) is now $43.99. (Below the price has been processed accordingly) We realise that you weren't expecting to pay this much for the 2 Fast 2 Furious (HD DVD). Please let us know if you would like to continue with your order at the increased price. Thank you and many apologies for any inconvenience. Regards Paul So I just ordered it elsewhere. Steve
davep Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 yup, at AUD$25 from dvdpacific thats pretty steep :|
