Brett1 Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 I find it annoying when a program runs over and the now and next information doesn't represent the change, leading to split recordings with different names or even worst missing out on part of the program. Is there any plan to ever have this changed so the now and next reflects what is being shown?
Neon Kitten Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Absolutely not. It will never happen as long as the morons that run the commercial networks are in charge. They're under the delusion that everybody watches TV as it is broadcast. The now/next info is set according to published listings, which are actually fake; the REAL start/finish times are not accidental overruns but rather are tightly planned and scheduled by the networks as part of their never-ending pissing contest. As one brainless network exec said last year, "we don't program for PVRs".
'ct' Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 And actual transmission times are very much a guarded thing by all commercial networks, hence why the times as shown on the Nein EPG on FTA and Foxtel are block/foxed advertised times, even though the parent comapny PBL owns a third of FOXTEL. Foxtel have the capacity for live dynamic EPG listings to be fed to them via Nein's Louth on-air Automation system, but big daddy PBL won't let them advertise precise times on the FOXTEL EPG. The ABC tried live dynamic EPG listings several years ago, which worked most of the time, except for occasionaly causing the on-air automation to slow down and sometimes crash. This was turned off many years ago, and to date, has not been turned back on, despite a change in EPG hardware vendor providers. ct
