How do you get less 10% ?

Hello from Amazon.com. We had recently enrolled you in our 10% off on HD DVD and Blu-ray disc purchases for one year promotion, and we hope you are enjoying this exclusive offer. Due to the overwhelming popularity of this promotion, we have extended the 10% sale offer through December 31, 2007.

Although you won't see any promotional messaging on our Web site, the discount will continue to be automatically applied to qualifying orders through 2007. Please note that it may take up to 72 hours for the 10% discount to be active on newly released DVDs. If you are purchasing a newly released DVD and don't see the discount, please try again in 2-3 days.

Thanks for shopping at Amazon.com.

I'm good to you guys, give this a go!

Just read it and it stopped at 31st of dec 2006, put the code in and see if it works still!

Save an Additional 10% on Your High-Definition DVDs for a Year

Here's how it works:

Purchase any qualifying item(s) from our High-Definition Store before Dec. 31, 2006, and within 72 hours you will be enrolled to save 10% on all HD DVD and Blu-ray disc purchases for one year from the date of your qualifying order (total value limited to $5,000 in total purchases or $500 in total discounts).

If you have already purchased or pre-ordered a qualifying item, then you have been pre-qualified for this offer and you should already see the discount automatically applied to your order or pre-order of any high-definition DVD.

Qualifying items include the following:

* Any high-definition television (HDTV)

* Any HD DVD player: see the Toshiba HD-A1 and the Toshiba HD-XA1

* Any Blu-ray disc player: see the Sony BDP-S1

* Three high-definition DVDs purchased in one order: specifically, HD DVDs and Blu-ray discs

Any high definition DVDs purchased in the same order as the qualifying item(s) will also receive the 10% discount (including the three HD DVD or Blu-ray discs purchased to qualify for the promotion). In order for the discount to take affect on the discs you are purchasing with your qualifying order, you will need to use the following claim codes upon checkout:

* If you are purchasing an HDTV, or an HD DVD or Blu-ray disc player, your claim code is: HIGHDEF1

* If you are purchasing three HD DVDs and/or three Blu-ray disc DVDs, your claim code is: HDDISC10

Please allow up to 72 hours after the date of your qualifying purchase to be enrolled in the promotion to receive a 10% discount on your subsequent HD DVD or Blu-ray disc purchases through Dec. 31, 2007. Once your discount becomes active, we will send you a confirmation e-mail.

To take advantage of this promotion, follow these steps:

1. Add at least one of the qualifying items to your Shopping Cart. Eligible items will have a message such as " Purchase this item and you'll automatically qualify to receive 10% off all of your high-definition DVD purchases for the next year" on the product detail page.

2. Proceed to checkout. When you're done shopping on our site, click the "Proceed to checkout" button in the Shopping Cart. Your shopping cart should include at least one qualifying item during the checkout process to qualify for this promotion. Additional conditions are listed below.

3. On the final checkout page of your qualifying order, we will discount all HD DVD(s) or Blu-ray disc(s).In order for the discount to take affect on the discs you are purchasing with your qualifying order, you will need to use the following claim codes upon checkout:

* If you are purchasing an HDTV, or an HD DVD or Blu-ray disc player, your claim code is: HIGHDEF1

* If you are purchasing three HD DVDs and/or three Blu-ray disc DVDs, your claim code is: HDDISC10

Enter the code under the field "Enter new gift cards, gift certificates or promotional claim codes" on the "Select Payment Method" page. A promotion credit for 10% off of all of your HD disc purchases will appear in the upper right corner of your Order Summary during the checkout process. If you use 1-Click ordering, the promotion will not be automatically applied; you will need to enter the appropriate claim code.

4. Within 72 hours of placing your qualifying order, your Amazon.com account will be enrolled to receive 10% off of all future HD DVD or Blu-ray disc purchases for the next year. You will not need to input any claim code to receive your discount in the future.

The 10% was a promotion from last year. It went along the lines of if you purchased a certain a mount of titles then you would get 10% off for the whole of this year.

I missed it...

How have people found Amazon's shipping to be like? I ordered two disks which shipped on 29 March (standard shipping) which still haven't shown. Is that normal?

Unfortunately standard shipping takes ages (3-4 weeks). The next one up only takes about a week or so. Worth paying the extra if you're in a hurry.

cool - thanks. My last order from Amazon (an amazon merchant) didn't show up at all, so currently i was looking at a 0 from 2 scoreline. If three to four weeks is not unusual, then I guess I have another week or so before I should kick up a stink.

I have found Amazon to be quite good for shipping. The last order i made was standard shipping and i got them in just under 2 weeks.

Expedited usually 1 week.

You should get yours soon though...

I preordered last night on DVD Pacific, along with HD DVE

Also ordered 12 titles that were in stock - all for <$250USD (about $300AUD). Gotta love this exchange rate

So mchuelio did you get the superior in every way HD DVD or the evil "poo-ray" (which recent studies show causes cancer - apparently the hard coat is carcinogenic and there are many reported cases of fanboi's getting testicular cancer as their hands are either rubbing up against the disc or in their pants rubbing something else) of Planet Earth.

I am eagerly awaiting HighDef Digests analysis.

Don't have a cow fanboi's, just having fun.

PS: it does cause cancer though. I read it on the inter-web-thing so it must be true (hey if it works for HJ)

its listed as "all region" at Amazon.

High-Def Digest just released their review of both the HD DVD and Blu-ray version of Planet Earth. The video quality and audio quality sections of the review for both are identical, because both discs use the same VC1 encode and DD 5.1 audio (488kbps). According to Hi-Def Digest this is a must owned demo disc for both formats and that other than the normal low light artifacts that video is known for, the video quality is some of the best they have seen for either format. The audio on the other hand leaves something to be desired, but isn't bad. The good news is that neither format showed the type of compression artifacts that we have some to live with from sat or cable and that both versions outshine the broadcast version you may have already seen.
