bkw Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I was watching the high def football coverage on channel 10 on Saturday night and the picture looked superb. HOWEVER, what is the story with that big black channel 10 logo (with a silver circle) sitting obtrusively just to the centre right of the screen. To make matters worse the score on the left hand side also takes up a large part of the picture. Why cant they make these things less obtrusive and in the corners of the screen, or is this just to pander to 4:3 tv owners. I find it very distracting. Also, that 10 watermark of so dark and the silver outline is so bloody bright that it leaves image retention on my plasma that does thankfully go but can last for minutes. This is the first time that I have had any significant image retention but at least it has not been permanent. Still, in view of all the complaints why have such a dark and obtrusive watermark?
Gremlin Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Down here in Tassie on Southern Cross, they don't show any 10 logo at all on the Saturday Night coverage.
anthonysimilion Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Still, in view of all the complaints why have such a dark and obtrusive watermark? I suggest you make your views known to your local TEN station. Certainly a lot of people would agree with you.
lizclinton Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Down here in Tassie on Southern Cross, they don't show any 10 logo at all on the Saturday Night coverage. They dont bother themselves to show it in HD either.

Graphics must be 4:3 safe for foxtel replays and international broadcasts. Anyway, the scoreboard is exactly the same as last year (except for a change in colour).
McDigital Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 G'day, In Bendigo SC10 on digital, I was trying to find where the watermark was. I couldnt find it. So I find it surprising how there is actually one displayed at all, since it looks like a clean feed is sent to all Ten affiliates
bkw Posted April 17, 2007 Author Posted April 17, 2007 Graphics must be 4:3 safe for foxtel replays and international broadcasts. Anyway, the scoreboard is exactly the same as last year (except for a change in colour). I understand that the scoreboard is pretty much the same as last year but the watermark isn't. Together they are very distracting and annoying. The watermark should be translucent and in the bottom right corner. Not a big black circle near the centre of the screen. it's just plain ludicrous.
MattWinter Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 The scoreboard seems a lot lower to me - it looks stupid because it's not even in line with the watermark. The watermark is very different from last year - they have been experimenting with it though - they had one in the US Masters that looked great (and they had no watermark for a while) - in their first AFL matches they changed it around a lot too. Let's hope they get it right, because it is a bit dark now.
LBM Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 they had one in the US Masters that looked great (and they had no watermark for a while. For the Masters, Ten only watermarked when an Australian golfer was on screen.
