Will consider all offers for my VP30/ABT102 at or about the DVDO "trade-up" price. Unit is in perfect working order, mint condition, still has the scratch proof film on the VFD window! IR sensor window mod has been done, comes in original box with all accessories incl rack mounts. The latest production software is installed. Unit was purchased in Australia and comes with balance of OEM warranty. If anyone is interested please PM me, if no interest then it will be off to eBay.

The sale is to help finance a VP50, I need 1080P pass-through which the VP30 doesn't presently do.

the VP30 will be great for foxtel, DVDs, TV & Games....even has a games mode with little/no lag ... it really does wonders for foxtel, DVDs & Digital TV ... well worth it... it makes foxtel from unwatcheable to quite reasonable and the movie channels become DVD quality ... not bad...

I agree with you BM - I use mine to make my Foxtel shine also - both on a HD crt and 720p projectors. It does it for both which is cool - one by analogue and the other by hdmi. The VP makes the ideal video switchbox too - no need to upgrade my avr (Denon 3805)

Good luck with the sale beejay

I was also thinking of selling mine to upgrade to a VP50 beejay, but since it has been confirmed that they will be including the 1080 Passthru mode in the next firmware upgrade (due shortly), I've decided that this is all I need.

The modern crop of HD DVD/Blu Ray players are now incorporating good video processing, so the passthru will be all I need. Then the VP30/ABT102 can do its magic on the crappy SD sources as well as being a very useful hub.

IMHO, pre-loved units like yours represent a fantastic bargain in the video processing world.... especially at the price that you're asking!! ....and lets face it, there's no mechanical or moving parts, so it's as good as a new one.

What is considered a reasonable offer for this?

The AVS trade-in price was/is $1400 USD, which is say $1700 AUD i.e. that's what I can get for it as an upgrade trade-in. So if I could squeeze an extra hundred or so then I'd be happy. Call it $1950 ono (ex Perth). New RRP is $3,300.

I'm happy to demo it for anyone interested (it's still installed at the moment).

From my limited knowledge yes it will.

I have the same projector and I can tell you it will definitely improve anything that is 576i, either analogue or HDMI. If your source is 1080i then there is not as much difference in PQ, but the VP30 still wins over the Faroudja dcdi. In addition the VP30 gives you all the conveniences of HDMI switching, calibration features and highly flexible scaling that the PE8720 doesn't do.

I think I paid about $50 to get it from Melbourne to Perth by registered delivery, figure it will cost about the same to send it the other way. Installation is available at my very generous daily rate, plus expenses!!

Thanks, then again the freight could be cheaper this way since more people want to visit Melbourne than Perth (J/K)

I need to consult with my over paid (err free) consultants unless of course it gets sold in the interim.

Don't forget that they also slug you with USD$250 as a "re-stocking" fee if you're an international customer.

Beejay, I’ve been conversing with some other enthusiasts, the ones that I normally consult with and don’t pay  must be busy ATM(J/K)…anyway the general concessus is that I don’t require such a high end piece of equipment for my basic system.

Good luck with the sale.

The VP30 is still available for anyone who might be interested. Happy to home demo it for any Perth buyers.

I hope you get a buyer Beejay.

The dvdo does an excellent job from all accounts.

With the money from the sale you could put it towards a HD1

Me too, because once Aaron calibrates my PE8720/VP30 combo next week I'll be locked in on the hardware for the time being. As much as I'd like the HD1/VP50 combo, until the VP30 sells then I can't do the upgrade. At least my new Stewart screen is something that can't be upgraded to anything better! I don't think I'd sell the PE8720 'tho, the crazy price of buying one new has killed the 2nd hand market for this projector.

I think you will find you wont need the VP 50 with the HD1. However, if want to CIH then this is once choice you have. Well if JVC implements the VS for the HD1 then that would solve that issue. But thats not going to happen  well maybe.

Good luck with your sale.

UPDATE:

The VP30 is still available. To sweeten the deal even more, I will throw in an unused Stewart screen for an extra $100!! I have 2 Stewart RP screens available, never used, about 80inch 4:3, still in the factory branded cling wrap. These screens are about $4k new.

From your first message I gather that your VP30 comes with the ABT102 card. Can you confirm this? How old is the unit and how much time is left on the warranty? And, who supports the warranty? The current international trade-in programme values the VP30 with ABT102 card at $1350USD or just over $1600AUD. Given you would have to pay to ship the VP30 to the US to take advantage of the trade-in programme, what price would you consider?

How much to ship the VP30 to Brisbane (either courier or registered and insured)? I'm assuming that shipping the Stewart screen will be astronomically high, but tell me some more about the screen.

Thanks.

>From your first message I gather that your VP30 comes with the ABT102 card.

yes

>How old is the unit and how much time is left on the warranty?

It was bought last year in Australia, with a 12 month warranty. I paid for it with my credit card giving it an extra 12 months warranty. So if the new owner had a warranty issue in year 2 I would be happy to act on the buyers behalf to get it fixed. So basically the warranty left remaining is more than the new OEM warranty.

>Who supports the warranty?

Synergy Audio in Sydney.

>Given you would have to pay to ship the VP30 to the US to take advantage of the trade-in programme..

No, the trade-up was managed through the International distributor, so the unit would be returned only to Sydney for trade-up.

>what price would you consider?

These are $3,300 new without the ABT102. Mine is in mint condition, it still has the plastic protective film on the VFD window, firmware and IR window mods done, and it has 12+ months warranty. So any offers $2k ono would be considered. Say $2000 for both the VP30 and the Stewart screen (combined worth about $8k new).

>How much to ship the VP30 to Brisbane (either courier or registered and insured)?

I'm guessing $50 say.

>I'm assuming that shipping the Stewart screen will be astronomically high, but tell me some more about the screen.

I have one of these:

http://www.stewartfilmscreen.com/AERO100.htm

and one of these:

http://www.stewartfilmscreen.com/material/opta/optical.html

They were bought from the Stewart distributor in Melbourne, from memory I paid $100 for road freight to Perth. However, the original wooden shipping crate had to be sent back to them so a new crate would need to be made to ship interstate. I can arrange that at cost to the new owner.
