McDigital Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 G'day, While I was in the reception coverage of Bendigo's Digital TV services, I had the little USB TV Tuner with me to experience for the first time some Digital TV in country Victoria. I'm impressed by the SC10 and WIN HD loops, Never knew Puffing Billy was getting free publicity That My Talk channel must have started just before I tuned in, but there seemed to be a few bits of information on screen that were not right....like the weather for each region would be the same for every city, Top of 30 degrees no matter where you are. Anyway, on Saturday night I found the difference between WIN and WIN HD quite interesting http://img242.imageshack.us/img242/7984/20...14220828yl0.jpg http://img120.imageshack.us/img120/4180/20...14220844pb6.jpg This is the first time I've seen any HD network make a movie look like your watching at the cinemas with a very wide picture. What are other people's opinions on this one

LBM Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 It was shown in the OAR of 2.35:1 just as Nine did with it. The upcoming movie Reindeer games is the same. You will find a lot of people here wish all movies were shown how they were filmed but others say "I want 16:9 and refuse anything else". I think it is great myself and Nine is the only one who does it with the exception of Swimfan (on SD strangely) which was on Seven.

The only gripe I had with Double Jeopardy is that it wasn't DD5.1. 2.35:1 letterboxed on a 16:9 screen isn't too bad IMO.
McDigital Posted April 17, 2007 Author Posted April 17, 2007 G'day, So it's called OAR (not familiar with abbreviations) which is like CinemaScope? Or similiar to what we watch at the movies

darockk Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 i like OAR...get to see the 'extra' bits. a bit like wathcing a show on 16:9 compare to watching it on 4:3 what was up with Reindeer Games last night? the sound was all screwed up in HD...was it just me or did anyone else get this? the add break demo's were fine, so im thinking it was the movie itself?
