slepax Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 Hello People, I hope this is the right forum for satellite related questions. I have just recently installed Strong 85cm offset dish, connected to a Strong 4653 STB. Using a Sat Finder, I have tuned my dish to the best location, but when I check the Dish Settings page on the STB, it gives me 25% signal strength and even less quality. Now to the weird stuff, if I do a manual scan and set the Freq and Symbol Rate to Select TV, I get 75% signal strength with more than 80% quality. And that's just what puzzles me, how can that be that the dish settings page shows there is no signal, while the manual scan has an excellent signal? If anyone can explain the mystery, I will be very grateful. Thanks. Ronen
wahroonga farm Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 Hi Slepax, Better you 'enroll' with vetrun.com.au, or Austech.com.au for non FTA stuff. The DTV forum is really all 'bout DVB-T and associated drivvle. But as a quick helper: Wot satellite did you intend to 'tune'? Since you've got Selectv your on IS8. You need to set the lnb/dish settings for EACH satellite you wish to view (and point it there). Location is useful for understanding the Clarke Belt
slepax Posted April 15, 2007 Author Posted April 15, 2007 Hi Wahroonga, About the missing inforamtion (sorry, I'm kinda new at this): 1. Yes, pas8 (IS8) is the one I was aiming [and locked] to. I did manage to get the Select TV promo channel so I am on the right sat. 2. I'm pretty sure my LNB and dish settings are correct, but still the signal is very low (25%), and strangely enough it does not prevent me from getting the Select TV promo channel and some other FTA channels. 3. Hmm .. Opps .. I'm in Perth Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, I will check those sites right away. Ronen
