New 50" Hitachi 1080 Line Plasmas

Recommended Posts

I was in a similar boat to you deciding on a new 50+" plamsa.

I decided to go with the Hitachi 55PD8800TA for the main reason that those extra 5" make a big difference. [actually I've had it a week and reckon i could go even bigger]. I thought it was much better than the new 50".

The Pioneer is a nice set [and arguably the leader in plamsa] but i just didn't see too much difference between it and the Hitachi not $1000 diff anyway for a smaller screen - and my budget didnt really stretch that far. I didn't check out the Fujitsu...but they're pretty pricey.

By the way, you should be able to pick up a Hitachi 55 for under $4k and the Hitachi 50 at $3k[or v clsoe to]

I'm sure you'd be happy with the Pioneer, either one, you can't really go wrong with it. Should be about $4,500 incl 5 year warranty and installation.

cheers

I pretty much agree and they only have one left as well and as you have pointed out they have it marked for $3690 (i think). Also we only sit about 3-3.5mtrs away and the extra 5" would make a difference as the actual size of the TV, stand, speakers etc.. make it look a fair bit bigger.

I do agree with you on the prcie aspect, an extra 5" for a $1000 less or same price as the 50" Hitachi 50PD960DT, with from what i have read more options in the Menu to adjust things, with the only downside the lack of the 1080i ALis screen. Thanks again for the comments guys. In a few hours i pic up all my goodies i bought yeterday  .

Cheers

How long have the current series of Hitachi panels been out? Is the 50PD960TA up for a revamp any time soon?

Also, how does this panel look when connected to a PC input and for gaming? (Anyone using it for a HTPC?)

Cheers!

New Hitachi Models with Reel60

Hitachi has unveiled a film processing technology that the company claims it solves a problem which has challenged television design engineers for 50+ years.

Since the advent of television, there has always been a mismatch between the motion of films seen in a movie theater and the way that same motion appeared on television. Through a new technology called Reel60, Hitachi applies a patented technique that correctly matches the motion of movies. Hitachi says that the technology allows viewers to experience movies at home in the pure and precise way the movie creators intended.

Is this different to Picture Master?

Hi. Saw your comments on the hitachi, would like to ask a question please. totally new to this so my apologies if this is not the way to do things. we have a hitachi 42pd7300ta-au plasma. finding the instruction manual bloody awful to make sense of, and my husband is fairly cluey on cabling etc. anyway, we cant pick up the abc channel when tuning in thru the tv, and if we run it thru the set top box (panasonic tu hdt 105a) we can get abc but every channel is black and white! my hubby has put every jack into every combination of sockets, with no result. we have a couple of smaller lcd tv's and have had no probs tuning them in. with this bugger the only constant signal we seem to egt is "no sync" or "no signal" when we run thru the component option etc. can you suggest anything?

many thanks.
