Timos1503560463 Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 Hi Guys/Girls, I've had my fantastic 2700 for a few months now. I've just moved into a new house and have run my network leads however i cannot get my router or receiver to connect. All the leads are correct and functioning, however the receiver won't connect and my router won't link either. Can some please offer some advice as to how to set this up as the user manual isn't overly helpful in this regard. It is the final feature of this receiver that i am to use and i'm getting frustrated as i have tried the DHCP and manual setup and neither appear to work. What can i do? Maybe some people who have theirs connected could share some ideas? My router is a D-link DSL-G604T if that helps. Thanks. Timos.

Dunno what the problem could be as mine worked as soon as plugged my wireless game adaptor into it. Make sure uPnP is switched on at the router. If you have a netwoek card in your PC, connect this directly to the 2700 and see if the 2700 picks up your music folder. One more thing, have you gone into the router settings and brought up the list of connected devices? Does it at least show up there? Dont forget you need to have either WMP 11 or WMC 2.0 on your PC also.
Nolz Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 Can I just ask what wireless game adaptor you have? I'm looking to network my 2700 in the not too distant future also and would prefer to buy something I know works as opposed to finding out the hard way that there is an incompatibility issue or whatever. Thanks.

I use a Netgear WGE111. Talks perfectly with the 2700, and my Linksys router.

Hi Timos, The first thing to do is determine if your computer can talk to the receiver. First do as MarkH suggests and see if your reciever is in the list of connected devices on your router. I am assuming you know how to web into your router if not let us know. If it is not then there are some things you need to tell us what is the I.P address of your computer. You find this by clicking start then run then typing cmd in the run box and enter. This brings you up a dos command box. In there you type "ipconfig" just the word not the inverted commas. This will give you the I.P address of your computer. It will be probably something like 192.168.0.2. Whatever it is write it down. Now go onto your receiver and see if it is set to dhcp or manual for I.P address. If it is dhcp and it has a totally different address range say 172.169.54.34 than I would suspect your router is not allowing the receiver to talk to the network for some reason. There might be a security setting on your router i.e. that only allows certain mac addresses to receive I.P addresses from the router or there is no physical connection between router and receiver. If the reciever is set to manual and the ip address is in the same range i.e. 192.168.0.200 if that is what your computer I.P. address range was. Then in the dos box you should be able to type ping 192.168.0.200 and get a reply straight away. But this would only happen if your router is allowing your receiver on the network. The subnet mask will be 255.255.255.0 make sure this hasn't been changed on your receiver accidently. If your computer and receiver are on the same range and there is no physical disconnection between the two. Then the only thing that can stop it working is the router. Let us know what you find and we will be able to help you further cheers Bill

Timos1503560463 Posted April 14, 2007 Author Posted April 14, 2007 Thanks Bill. I have pretty much done everything, however i'm not sure about the connection to the router, as all other wired and wireless connections are working, but the indicator on the router to let me know that the receiver is connected is off. This means that the router is not recognising the receiver. What can i do? I've playing around with the DHCP being on and off, and manually adjusted the IP address and done all of the ipconfig stuff in the command prompt. Still no luck though...... very frustrating. Timos.
Timos1503560463 Posted April 14, 2007 Author Posted April 14, 2007 Just one other (maybe stupid) thing..... If i connect my receiver to my wireless router, can i use a wireless pc to control the receiver? I'm guessing not, but though i would ask. Timos.
Timos1503560463 Posted April 14, 2007 Author Posted April 14, 2007 Hey guys! It's all working. And from my wireless notebook. Thanks for all the help. Ended up being a faulty network lead, rather than the setup.... next time i'll check there first before trying to change the setup. Timos.

Its nearly always the simple things that stuff up something complex. Cheers Bill
