divinewrite
Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has any experience with playing TV recorded onto an SD card? If I record in 'Super Fine' quality, is playback better than from VHS? I have the Panasonic TH-50PX600A, and I can record directly onto an SD card. Unfortunately, I only have an 8 meg card in the house, and the TV doesn't like it, so I can't test. Before spending another $80 odd, I'd like to know what I can reasonably expect. (Reason? I'm considering buying a Panasonic 2GB SD memory card in order to record 'The Amazing Race'. At the moment, I can only record it on VHS, 'cos I don't have a DVD recorder or PVR. This is just about the only thing I ever want to record, so I don't want to invest a lot of money (and research time) in a dedicated device. Nor do I have the room for one in my entertainment unit.) Oh, and where's the best place online to buy a genuine Panasonic card? Note that I've already posted this on the Panasonic PX600a 'What price you pay' forum, but I thought that would limit responses, given that it's Pana-specific. Apologies for the double-post. Should I remove the other post, mods? Thanks.
quansta
i was thinking the same (i've got the 42" PX600a).. but i thought you can only record onto it if the Plasma was on, and only on the channel that you are viewing at the time???? i also read in these forums that the quality is pretty crap... the slot is really only to view digital still pics etc captured on other digital devices
divinewrite
i was thinking the same (i've got the 42" PX600a).. but i thought you can only record onto it if the Plasma was on, and only on the channel that you are viewing at the time???? I'm pretty sure you're right about only being able to record when the plasma is on, and I THINK you're right about the second point (only recording the channel you're currently viewing). Unfortunately, the manual's a bit ambigous. It says, "During recording, it is possible to watch other terminals input signal." I read this as meaning you could, for instance, watch a dvd, but not watch another channel. Does anyone have any first-hand knowledge of this? For me, it's not a big deal. I'll be recording simply 'cos the show starts after my bed-time (my 3yr old and 10 month old get up very early, which means so do I!). I won't be watching anything else. And if I decide that I don't want the TV on all night, I'll turn on auto-standy. This could cause a few headaches with my universal remote sync, but it would be worth it if the quality is up to scratch... Cheers.
