lehman05 Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 I recently put together my first home theatre system and can't get enough of anything in DTS. Problem is it seems there isn't much around in Oz. I've searched through forums and checked out some websites, but almost every time I hire a dvd thats been listed as dts it turns out not to be. Can anyone list a few dts dvd's that I should be able to get from the local vid store?

Interesting that DVDs listed as DTS are not operating as DTS sound, are you selecting DTS from the audio menu?
Cody Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 just did a quick search of this section. List of full bitrate DTS DVD's Al, might make a good addition to your FAQ section?
lehman05 Posted April 13, 2007 Author Posted April 13, 2007 Interesting that DVDs listed as DTS are not operating as DTS sound, are you selecting DTS from the audio menu? Hi, sorry I should clarify what I meant. Any DVD I hire that has the dts symbol does play in dts. I meant that a lot of the dvd's I see in this forum and other forums that say they are dts I find aren't. I assume this is because they are other region dvd's or whatever so I was just curious as to what is available here.

It's been my experience that the video rental places often have scaled down versions of what is available for purchase. Why this is I have no idea. Here is a great thread with plenty of recommendations: Best movies / TV shows seen/heard on your system Also check out http://www.ezydvd.com.au/mech/quicksearch....title&q=DTS Edited April 13, 2007 by Lyle

If you do a search on Superbit in any of the online DVD stores you will get superbit titles they have in stock. Amazon and CD-WOW usually offer a good range. Best part is that CD-WOW have free shipping.

Raaf_ Hornet Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 Das Boot Superbit, Gladiator, Master And Commander and House Of Flying Daggers sound great, Jeff
lehman05 Posted April 13, 2007 Author Posted April 13, 2007 Last night I watched The Sum Of Us. It's not dts but geez some parts sounded great. The nuclear explosion was incredible. There are some dvd sites available that list a bunch of dts dvd's. A few weeks ago I printed a list from here http://www.dvdorchard.com.au/DTSDVDa.asp?C...che=0%2E3624079 and took it to the vid shop. But I was disappointed to find a lot weren't dts or they were subtitled or they were just rubbish. That's the main reason I was asking, what people have hired that IS dts. I know you can just look at the cover but I was kind of hoping to cut a bit of time and go off others recommendations.

Mr Black1503561207 Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 Hi all, This is my first post but have been in HT for the past ten years, iam currently upgrade the gear as i have just killed a couple of my speaker, did from a combination of highpower and old age. Any way to the topic at hand, DTS, if it is not in DTS it's just plain second rate, i hunt around for movies and music videos in DTS. Music videos that are in DTS are the VH1 Storytellers series, awsome sound. There is also U2 and Red Hot Chilly Peppers at Slain Castle, seperate DVD's, heaps of good movies out in DTS as well. After the intial release they usually do a second run or special release with a DTS track. Extended version on 2 discs also contain (usually) a DTS option. i.e Harry Potter, LOTR extended box set. Check out DTSonline and search what is availiable - DTS title search This search also list new movies coming to DVD if it has DTS. Hope this helps, Stu.
