Toshiba are currently in the process of hiring account managers for the CE products due to the Castel change. They have a National account manager but he is snowed down with all this since the Castel partnership ended march 31st. They are redesigning and hiring at the moment, they will be pushing HD-DVD and thier new line of TV's very hard once up and running.

Also the RRP for the XE1 is definately $1599.

XE1s are not far away, 2 weeks...

Yeah - right . I'll believe it when I see it. Hmmm...let's take a look at their track record

HD-DVD Players release November 2006...no wait, December 2006...No wait, January 2007 with the XE1 February 2007....no wait March 2007...No wait, April 2007....no wait May 2007....no, no - Definately June 2007.

Hmmm....let me see....if I were running a major CE company and I KNEW in December that the agreement with my distributor was ending in 3 months with a major technology product to be launched against a major competitor, perhaps it would have been prudent to start putting things in place a tad sooner?

Are we sure Toshiba is not a Government owned corporation?

Sorry for being jaded everyone - but I have been treated better when I built my house. (and that was no walk in the park)

Have fun - I sure hope you get treated better when spending your hard-earned dollars.

am seriously considering selling all my HD-DVD titles and going Blu-Ray

Doubt he owns any. Just another BD fanboi pretending to covert to BD due to his "disappointment with HD DVD and BD's superiority".

Hydra indentification - confirmed

So even though:

a) he has bought a 360 add on;

b ) stated that he believes that HDDVD is superior to Blu Ray; and

c) posted updates regarding contact with Toshiba,

as soon as he expresses any dissatisfaction with Toshiba's marketing efforts in Australia he must be a "BD fanboi" and or paid shill?

Your status is quite apparent.

Lets get one thing straight, you can call me a HD DVD fanboi if you like. But I am forced to speak up and sound like a fanboi because of the crap you-died-in-the-wool blu boys spew. Don't talk so much BS and I'll pipe down.

Your status is quite apparent.

Lets get one thing straight, you can call me a HD DVD fanboi if you like, but bluntly, as far as the tech goes, I'm neutral. But I am forced to speak up and sound like a fanboi because of the crap you-died-in-the-wool blu boys spew. Don't talk so much BS and I'll pipe down.

You claim neutrality but your behaviour suggests otherwise. An earlier complaint about delays by Toshiba got a response from you along the lines of "get over it" and "why not hassle Sony as well". A further complaint about delays gets the suggestion that the person is a shill. What crap was he speaking that required you to speak up?

I am all for responding to any factual misrepresentations, but the suggestion that anyone who doesn't harbour a deep mistrust of Sony and/or a blind defence of HDDVD is a member of the"BD brigade" or "a paid shill" or "died-in-the-wool blu boy" is childish.

I bought a PS3, so I own a BD player. I own a 360 and if they were readily available in Australia i would buy the HDDVD add on. For me, content is king and both camps have exclusives that I want.

My behaviour suggests I am sick to death of the HD DVD bashing and made up stuff that is spewed all over this forum.

It is claimed that this forum is anti Blu-ray, but the reality is most of the blu-ray discussion is sesationalist crap and most of it also contant false claims of superiority over HD DVD.

If the blu fans want to discuss their favourtie topic I'm all for it. But if you look at the threads on blu-ray you will find most of it contains HD DVD bashing, flasehoods and lies. if you look at the HD DVD dedicated threads, you find folks discussing their enjoyment of the format and their experiences. No Blu-ray bashing in sight, in fact the topic of BD is rarely even raised in those threads.

I don't think there is a single dedicated BD thread which doesn't turn to the topic of how superior it and it's fans are to the "other" format.

A vast majority of the BD fanbois who are most vocal don't even own a machine (I know you do) and really are talking out their @rses, and I am sick of it.

Perhaps most of this isn't relevant to the past few posts, but you brought up my apparent bias and this is the reason for it.

How could anyone claim this? Hmmm - unless they read topic descriptions like the Planet Earth thread ("Must have HD DVD or POO RAY').

I dont read the HD threads much, but any general discussion of high def always seems to generate a lot of snide blu-ray comments. Same thing in other forums I look at (like Whirlpool).

I wonder if there is an underlying reason for that ?

Look I'm not claiming that the HD DVD mob are a paragon of virtue, but I think if you look at *most* of the threads, you'll find in most cases those "snide" comments were preceded by BS from the blu boys and in many a case was a response to deliberate baiting..

I also think the thread you refered to had a good deal of light hearted humor in it and was far from the scathing remarks seen in other threads.

I do agree with you Momaw - a bit of baiting/trolling goes on in both camps - which personally becomes pretty annoying.

And I'm all in favour in light hearted banter too - its just that when a few people all drop their caustic little funny comments in, it all adds up.

I guess all I really want to do is watch movies in high definition, I'm not here on a crusade to promote any format.

Thats the dream Bort

I can admit to being baited easily.

It's just when things that are not true are said, it concerns me that someone who is new and looking for information will believe it and make a decision based on it. This is why the likes of Hydralinks come in every few weeks and spam information they know to be inaccurate but throw in enough technical jargon that someone unfamiliar with their modus-operandi might be tricked into thinking was genuine.

I believe people should get into these formats with their eyes open to the real pros and cons of each format. Hence my attempt at a neutral buyers guide. Sure they are cheaper than DVD players were in the early days, but it's still a lot of cash to most to plonk down on an item they then find to be not what was promised.

That's a pretty nasty thing to say without asking - aren't others entitled to a voice here?

I'm curious why ?

The skin only stays thick for so long and finally the majority of the s**tstirrers are p**sweak as they make points not with fact but with sarcasm and personal insults when their exposed with facts, personally I wish they would F.OFF and let those of us interested in enjoying one or both formats get on with spreading the word on our interests.

Amen brother.

Andrew.

I apologise if I mistook you for another of the trolls.

Your response to my post as quoted shows I was incorrect.

I have gone back and re-read your posts and some earlier ones and I was out of line.

Please keep giving us info and please forgive my ignorant outburst.

As I said above, and has been echoes, some of us are getting a bit sick of the "Hydra's" and my response was misplaced.

No Problems - Thanks for taking the time to reply. Yes - I'm a little more than frustrated, and working for a Government Department, find all the delays (similarities), promises a little too much some times.

This is one of the best places to find information - makes it even better when you feel welcome to participate.

Take care.
