hunterdata Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Pioneer or Panasonic Pioneer Panasonic Philips Hitachi .... any one of those would leave a smile on ya face!!
50mxe20 Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Pioneer Panasonic Philips Fujitsu Hitachi .... any one of those would leave a smile on ya face!!
nis200979 Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 >> You're limiting yourself significantly wanting something with an inbuilt tuner. I thought the same way early in the piece, >> not wanting to accommodate another box and remote. It's actually pretty hard to find plasmas without digital tuner. The $11k Pioneer and $17k Panasonic are the two good ones out there. Fujitsu still have models out there without HD tuners, but unless HT mounting why bother, the Pioneer is a better product, better service, better warranty and cheaper.
metal beat Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 +1I'm really happy with mine! What is the PQ on the likes of Foxtel?? I assume dvd and HD FTA is very good

woospy Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 What is the PQ on the likes of Foxtel?? I assume dvd and HD FTA is very good DVD and FTA are superb. I must say I'm upgrading from a 51cm CRT, so for my wife and I, it's been a constant WOW for the last few days. I dont have Foxtel so cant help you. Read ANYTHING Panasung has written. I wouldnt trust a word of that idiot's delusional drivel.

The only thing I don't like about the Philips ( besides size) is the damm crappy scart cables, so s-video is my best PQ. Still tossing up whether the PQ is better on plasma's in general
nis200979 Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Read ANYTHING Panasung has written. Don't spoil the fun Lyle, I want to hear any new comments Panasung has.

WOW, real tough talk behind the safety of your keyboard....you must be a real tough motof..ker hey......LOL, as if....LOL.
PanaSung Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Best 42in HD plasma is prolly Panasonic if we factor in price. No big screen hi-res HDTV works well with Foxtel's weaker channels. The movie channels will look okay, but it will be DVD and FTA HD that will excel.

On my 50" Plasma FOXTEL looks absolutely fine - of course reruns of Hogans Heroes are not quite HD but that is the source program's fault. I would invite you over to see how good FOXTEL looks - but you seem like a bit of a nuitter so the misses probably wouldn't let you in.....
woospy Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 I would invite you over to see how good FOXTEL looks - but you seem like a bit of a nuitter so the misses probably wouldn't let you in..... jeez more tough talk behind the safety of a keyboard... what has the world come to? Doug, I was contemplating maybe getting Foxtel in the near future. You reckon Foxtel looks alright on a plasma? Good to hear that... are there any plans for Foxtel to "upgrade" their signal to a higher definition?

You reckon Foxtel looks alright on a plasma? Good to hear that... are there any plans for Foxtel to "upgrade" their signal to a higher definition? Tough talk ???? just a harmless comment mate. I have no interest in FOXTEL upgrading to HD - it looks fine in SD as does everything else I watch in SD (including DVD's) on my 50" Plasma (and they all used to look perfect on my old 37" Plasma as well). I would rather have Rupert and Sol (and James now I think) spend my money on improved content. I think complaining about FOXTEL is like buying a commodore and then wining that it doesn't go as well as a European car - just a pointless whinge really. FOXTEL is produced for the masses and is good at what it does.
Struggo Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 FOXTEL is produced for the masses and is good at what it does. Well said! I have Fox and some channels look rubbish. Showtime, Box Office, 9, 2, SBS, FOX SPORTS at times all look good on my Plasma. The worst to be honest is all the Amercian programs IMHO. I run my Fox via component into my Hitachi 8800.
