Bdatest ... Is This One Still In Development?

Hello all..

Last year sometime,i was testing out a little Beta DVB-T Program called BDAtest ... I've been away from the Tuner card scene for a little while,i'm wondering if this one has continued in development, with all the application programs i've tried,BDAtest works best with HD TV on my laptop, all others tend to stall and stutter watching HD stations,or in the case of the Lifeview application that my PCMCIA product came with,HD doesn't even work at all.

Cheers....

I have to agree with you nexx,it's a great program, not resource hungry at all,If The author would give permission,i wonder if someone out there with great programming skill would like to take it on and continue to develop it.... certainly worth paying some $$'s to get a lean mean little app that's happy to run on a low spec machine.. displaying HD nice and smooth..

Is there any site that lists all Third party Commercial\shareware BDA clients that are available,or those in the early stages of development? such things are discussed here i realise that... but i find i'm spending less time online, and more time in front of the Plasma TV latley :-)

Cheers...

IIRC it was simply adapted from the BDATest sample that shipped with the DirectX 9.0 ~ SDK. The original sample was hardcoded to ATSC and we hardcoded it to DVBT. It certainly doesn't do anything special or use less resources than later developments. It also doesn't scan frequencies, deal with multiple devices, allow you to specify audio and video decoders and renderers etc etc

If you want a skinny DVBT viewing app then try DigitalWatch.

As far as a list of 3rd party DVB BDA Apps. This is about the most complete one I'm aware of http://www.digitalrise.biz/support/software/

Development of UltraDTV was suspended late last year. As there did not seem to be enough interest in it to justify the continuing development cost. We had a couple of hundred beta downloads from around of the world and it apparently either worked fine or the testers gave up, as we got very little feedback (esp of the ATSC implementation) ~

Thanks for your advice Joey,i'll have a look at DigitalWatch,It was the fact that HD TV works flawlessly with BDAtest, unlike the others i've tried, which i came to the assumption that it must be less Processor intense than a lot are,and i don't need multi tuner support, however,in the setup dialogue,i can tell it what decoders to use, though i have just stuck with the Cyberlink audio and video decoders that it has by default.. Thankyou for the software listing..

Cheers

Thanks for setting the record straight

I had wondered, but didn't think it was my place to ask.

On another Forum I gather Null_pointer is taking WS to new commercial grounds. It will be interesting to see where the product heads, and the risks that may ensue.

We wish him the best of luck!
