fletch1503559544
Hi, I am interested in building a HTPC with a dual HD tuner card/s. Being hearing impaired, I love that my toppy allows me to record the entire stream and play back recorded content with the subtitles. Do any of these new tv cards allow that functionality ? Thanks Fletch
renura
Hi,I am interested in building a HTPC with a dual HD tuner card/s. Thanks Fletch Hi Fletch, Recording is a software function so all cards can do that, most software applications will allow you to record the full TS, including WebScheduler. The trick is being able to view the subtitles when you play the stream back. Not many applications do that, but one of the few that does is DVBViewer Pro, which you can purchase for $15 Euros. http://www.dvbviewer.com/en/index.php Cheers Renura
DrP
I can't be sure, but I think progdvb will play subs from a .ts type file.
dezzy
Do any of these new tv cards allow that functionality ? Confirming Renura's post, I am happy using a DNTV tiny USB card and DVBViewer Pro to include subtitles. I record with WebScheduler in TS Mux format. These give equivalent or better performance to my Toppy 5000MP, plus you have the option to watch HD if you want. So far, I am only using one tuner but could add if needed. Better than a Toppy?? So far WebScheduler is rock solid stable with no missed timers. It also includes an integrated EPG. So far DVBViewer is rock solid stable without any firmware stumbles and update woes. Touch wood. murrayt
fletch Notwithstanding that the cards referenced above may or may not work for subtitles (via various convoluted means) I am well aware that the Nebula DigiTV application provides specifically for the recording of and replay of subtitles (where they are provided by the broadcaster) It is something that they feature on their website The DigiTV application can record subtitles without the need to record the entire transport stream which is a plus generally
fletch1503559544
Thanks very much everyone for responding - I am definately going to check out DVBViewer Pro Murrayt , does the Nebula DigiTV application work with any card or must I buy a specific card to use the software application ? murrayt
fletch I works certainly with the Nebula devices, and in my experience with ther devices such as The Leadtek DTV1000T with a licence (and other BA compatible decices I would expect). But fo your requirements for s/t it seems well configured to deliver the subtitles natively Your call really as to whether it delivers to your needs better than other alternatives, but as it is designed in it possible has a head start
