garyinoz Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 My DVD recorder is not region free does anyone know where I can get a hack for this? I could take it to panasonic but I believe this can be done via a remote control sequence. I don't mind taking it to a retailer to get it done. Location, North Shore Sydney. Thanks

Guest redeagle Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 i know when i brought my first dvd player panasonic in 2000 it was not all region and about 3 months later a little remote arrived from panasonic that when i pushed a few buttons on the remote it became all region so maybe if you contact panasonic they may send you one just ask . but now i will not buy panasonic for many reasons but one big one for me is they only have optical out and will not be doing coaxial as i prefer coaxial over optical as i feel its a better 5.1 sound output.
darockk Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 All Panasonic DVD players or recorders should be region free. Even though the box may be labelled 'region 4 ', there should be a sticker on the box saying something like 'this box has been opened and checked by authorised panasonic technician", which basically means it has been set to play all regions from the factory. When I bought my DMR-EH65 (250Gb, analog only tuner) it had the sticker on the box but it still didnt play anything besides region 4. After talking to Panasonic custoemr care, they said all players sold in australia should defnitely play all regions...so I took it back to JB and they tried other DMR-EH65 but none of them worked either, they thought they must have had a bad batch of players that didnt get unlocked. I ended up exchanging to the DMR-EX85 instead which played all regions (tested it in the shop before buying it) what you could do is go back and try another DMR-EX75, make sure you bring a non region 4 DVD with you with test. i looked around on how to unlock the DMR's but they all require a special signal sent fro ma special remote control, and you have to pay someone to do it.
