Tweet Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 when oh when will Australia get a decent bd option that is not *ahem* a Samsung? Well, it should work for a few months at least before it develops a fault. C.M
Guest Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 when oh when will Australia get a decent bd option that is not *ahem* a Samsung? Apparently if you buy a PS3 they throw in a free bluray player where u been mate?hows your brother mike? Mike's great mate he's been visiting Bill, went away for Easter mate, managed to get Casino Royale in SD DVD on the Yammy before we went away and now looking even more forward to Hi Def. At least with Samsung entering the fray the door for Marantz, Denon and co is more likely to open
Skid_MacMarx Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 yorac, yes indeed great news.. this will put pressure on other manufacturers to present a similar product. One plus is the interactivity for both BD and HD-DVD which I gather the LG proto lacked..
betty boop Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 yorac, yes indeed great news.. this will put pressure on other manufacturers to present a similar product. One plus is the interactivity for both BD and HD-DVD which I gather the LG proto lacked.. great news ! does this mean we will all be buying samsung players now . Oh Gawd ! the fact it .. fully supports their interactive content (BD-Java and HDi). It also features HDMI 1.3, 1080/24p output for Blu-ray titles and DVD-Video upscaling via DCDi processing. is probably goign to appeal to many.full marks to both lg and samsung for trying and getitng there. now can any of the other makers please do the same !

djOS Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 Tis a shame that Samsung's AV gear isnt quite up to the same level as some of their other gear. eg mobile phones (I just ordered the new Samsung SGH-i600 Smart phone to replace my iPaq ).
Guest Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 Why is it the latest coolness to slag of samsung ? I take umbrage to that, I slag off Sony at every opportunity I think the point here mate is why is it the lower end of the food chain that is producing these first given all the claims by the high end of the BR manufacturers, it reeks of manipulation for mine
djOS Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 Why is it the latest coolness to slag of samsung ? No-one is slanging off at them, but they clearly aren't in the same league as say Denon or Onkyo etc and yet are charging those kind of prices for their BD player.
Drizt Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 No-one is slanging off at them, but they clearly aren't in the same league as say Denon or Onkyo etc and yet are charging those kind of prices for their BD player. But where is Denon and Onkyo BD player?
Drizt Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 Its a pity it only does 1080p/24 for BluRay. Apparently HD DVD can't do 1080p/24 properly yet. Apparently HD DVD has been doing 1080p/24 -> 1080i/60 -> 1080p/24 conversion, and haven't finalised the process properly yet (that what I have read in the links provided in the first post)... This is a shame, means I will have to keep waiting, and waiting..... and waiting
momaw Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 But where is Denon and Onkyo BD player? Onkyo are building a HD DVD player
Drizt Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 Onkyo are building a HD DVD player But its not available yet. P.S. thought that rumour was denied by Onkyo ???
AndrewW Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 But its not available yet.P.S. thought that rumour was denied by Onkyo ??? And then they un-denied it. Andrew.
momaw Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 And then they un-denied it.Andrew. never denied by onkyo. A bogus press release was put up on a page that Skid was bandying about where Meridian were supposed to have denied making a HD DVD player, but they put up an official announcement on their own homepage saying they were putting that bit of BD fanboi inspired rubbish to bed and were in fact in development of a Meridian HD DVD player. Onkyo reps were at CES at the actual announcement.
