sulimo Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 So my copy of the aforementioned game arrived in the post today. And I have to say I'm pretty damn happy with it so far. Sure I'm only going through the tutorial still, but it looks and sounds great and the control are really quite responsive. Of course I'm still getting past the odd feeling of playing a PC game (where I'd be very comfortable using mouse and keyboard) with a console controller. One thing though...I really think the game makers went overboard in the customisation of character looks. It offers way more detail and granularity than is needed for a single player game. Of course now I have to work out how to play this whilst at the same time trying to deal with my current LOTRO addiction.

For one, the majority of downloadable content available on PC and Xbox 360 didn't make the deadline. That means that Mehrunes' Razor, the Vile Lair, the Wizard's Tower and other post-release goodies are nowhere to be found (and that includes this month's "Shivering Isles" expansion). There isn't a clear answer as to whether or not users will ever be able to download these add-ons either -- so there's a definite possibility that what you see is what you get.
kamma Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 is this the same game thats been on sex box for 18mths and pc for about 2-3 years? why would sony bother? is there anyone that hasn't played it yet?
sulimo Posted April 10, 2007 Author Posted April 10, 2007 I'm a bit disappointed with the PS3 release..... I think you have to give the guys some time. There's no reason at all why Bethesda couldn't offer up all that material for the PS3 version, whether as a disc based expansion (like the PC) or for download via the Playstation store. Though I guess I could be a bit concerned that it fails to sell on the PS3, so they decide not to offer that additional content.

What makes me annoyed it that all this stuff has been out for months and should have been on the disc itself.

I haven't. My PC was/is too weak to play it and I don't own a 360. And its not 3 years old on the PC. It came out last year on PC/360 at the same time. As for why Bethesda would bother.... imagine for similar reasons why Bungie bothered with the about to be released Halo 2 on the PC. They feel theres a group of people out there who would like teh game but don't own other platforms.

CustomHT Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 So is it compatible with a keyboard/ mouse?? or can you only play it with the controller??
Guest Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 So is it compatible with a keyboard/ mouse??or can you only play it with the controller?? The controller works fine no need for kb/mouse. Infact the PC version uses the same console orienated interface which had the pc crowd in a uproar. Pity the game is so lame. Once i got over the 'wow' factor I realised how boring and shallow it really is. Sure there are 200 dungeons, but its really the same five repeated 25 times each. Real RPG's are dead i'm sad to say. I like many others are in horror that Fallout3 is in Bethdesas hands. And we know how thats going to turn out, Oblivion with guns.
Paranoid666au Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 Pretty sure it only works with the controller. EDIT: Gees Oblivion isn't shallow at all, there's **** loads to do! Sick of the caves? Do something else. But I guess you cant expect everyone to like a game. I know I couldn't really get into Morrowind but Oblivion is so different and just awesome!
