Hi

Apologies for reposting this from the pio 507 thread. thought I'd do a separate one for help from the subject owners.

I am seeking for some guidance from current 507 owners and pio 696 dvd player with more experience then I do. I've had this pair since Feb of this year. When the pio installers set it all up, I was under the impression that he had set the video output setting for hdmi resilution to 720x576p and by doing so, let the pio 507 upscale natively. Is this the correct term? does the 507 upscale to 720p automatically or do I have to set something up on the plasma?

Anyway, I had some suspicion over the last few weeks that, whilst watching dvds, I've noticed some spots or jaggeredness (if they are the correct words). It's sometimes looked fantastic and sometimes on certain scences, looks spotty... I never bothered to investigate further.

Over the Easter break, when I turned on the 696, it briefly displayed 720p in the display panel (never noticed that before) before the load disk (?) message appeared. I then realised that the player was set at 1280x720p instead of what I thought was 720x576p.

Someone wrote in this forum that it's better to let the 696 output at 720x576p and let the pio 507 upscale natively as the plasma does a better job the the 696. Question is:

- if that is the case, do I need to set something up on the 507 to auto upscale or do I need to do nothing.

- what is your opinion and experience with the 696 and 507 in terms of resolution settings? I think from what I have seen, setting the 696 to 720x576p and let the 507 upscale looks better...less grainy??

Any guidance would be much appreciated.

best Rgds

Mate just signed up to give you a reply to this

OK i have the same plasma and dvd player and have to say the 696 is a buggy mofo- i have been through 4 of them now

No matter what i put in i get a thick black line on the top of the screen with a whole heap of screen jitter to acompany it- thats set at 720 p, if i put it on 1080i its shocking how much jitter there is- can you let me know if you have these issues with yours?

Funny thing is the model under it the 490v doesnt suffer from these problems

I would suggest you return it and get that model and set it to 720p
