Hi guys,

I realised I never did get back here to post pics of my DIY screen with the masking completed.

OK, now dont laugh - this was all done on a budget (and boy what a small budget it was) for a rental unit. It is a temporary setup which will be pulled down and probably discarded when I move out, so there wasn't any point spending a fortune on it - its just to get me up and running for the short-term.

That being said, here are the new pics - enjoy.

Nice work Steve, and it looks "portable" too... very good for those who are renting, or don't have the heart to build a more permanent fixture in their own home. Nice screenshots too!

Just out of curiosity, what screen material are you using?

Hi Foggy,

The material was actaully a mix up. I thought she was cutting from one roll of material but she was actually cutting from something else. It is still blackout cloth but not actually the stuff I was hoping for, so I am not sure what this is called. It does an OK job for what it is, its actaully better than I thought it would be so that's a plus. Can't wait to get a proper screen but for now its sure better than nothing

Well done Steve. You should be very happy with that. Just seeing a scope image makes me very warm and fuzzy. Are you coming to the next GTG and see the HD1?

It sure does, except on the other hand when I watch 16:9 material now I find myself getting a little sad.. it just aint the same is it.

Yes - im still up for the GTG if the date/time suits. I am kept very busy these days with this damn thesis but if I can make it I'll be there, I've been looking forward to it!

Although I know that seeing it will give me the upgrade bug again. I've been trying to keep away from it all... like an addict I tried cold turkey but as soon as I break and read something new or see something new - its all over. It's a sickness.. I should see someone about it.

So has it actually arrived yet or is that still a few days off?

Steve that looks great man, i agree looking at those screenshots that 16x9 just doesn't compared to the 2.37 scope image...

Can't wait to set up CIH, and as i now have the same as you (8720) i'm keen to see just how good it comes up..

What size is the scope diagonally?

Cheers mate.

It is exactly 100" diagonal (scope). It is about perfect (well, it is maybe a little too close) from my seating distance which is exactly 2.6m from the screen at the moment. Good luck setting yours up, the 8720 makes CIH simple. Post pics when you get it set up
