Guest telco_syd Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 (edited) I just bought Sony KDL-40V2000 TV yesterday for $2600 + $200 5yr warranty. It's the overall $2800 i guess that hits. Chucked a pair of $14 rabbit ears behind the stand and the picture quality on TV is fantasic. After such an expensive purchase, every dollar saved counts, can someone please explain the input options. The TV has component input. My DVD player has component output. I'm using some red, white, yellow cables which normally are just used for video out RCA etc or whatever you call it. The DVD picture quality is no-where near as clear as the TV. If I buy the actual expensive component cables (RGB), will this improve picture quality? Or is it just that a 6yr old DVD player will not be as clear as newer ones. After forking out $2800, whatever I can save is a help! Otherwise I guess I will have to buy a new DVD player, hopefully a $150 one should do it. The DVD player has no HDMI. It does have SVIDEO, will that also improve the quality. Right now I am using component in/out, but just with the old red, white, yellow RCA cables. Thanks in advance. I am about to buy one on the weekend. I saw Myer had it $2699 on the ticket on Saturday, but I reckon there is always room for movement. I would be happy with $2800 with warranty - so if you can name the place I might head there... As for DVD player, I would go HDMI for $150 - why not, you just spent $2800 on the TV! Good component cables might end up costing you $40 or so anyway - so I would go with getting a new player, although I dont know if the HDMI cable is included? I believe they include one with the LCD though? I am going to get the DAVFXG9K tomorrow too - SonyCentral has it for $999 currently - which is a very good price for a 5x DVD player with HDMI and the speakers and sub are incredible.
