rezok Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 Guys, Has anyone successfully used a hdmi - dvi adapter with the ps3 (without signal loss.interference?). My screen has dvi inputs only. Audio can run seperately...just thinking of the cheapest and most efficient configuration options. Thanks.

Because you might as well give up right now if it isn't Andrew.
rezok Posted April 7, 2007 Author Posted April 7, 2007 Pulled some boxes and found a cable (dvi-hdmi) Didnt work...... ps3 - benq 22" lcd. wonder though, if it will work with the same cable from ps3 - sony hs50 proj... says here it is hdcp... http://www.projectorcentral.com/Sony-VPL-HS51.htm does that mean its likely to work? Unfortunately cant pull it out, because its in storage, but would love to know before I splash $225 on a dvi switchbox... cheers for the quick answer!

Yeah I'd check if the display is HDCP enabled. I believe the HDMI-DVI adapter should be OK, but Sony decided in their infinite wisdom that if you ain't got HDCP, then you ain't gonna get nuthing. Andrew. ps: I have no idea why I started speaking like that ...
AndrewW Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 says here it is hdcp...does that mean its likely to work? You edited your post while I was replying I believe that it should, but I'd be trying it out before spending any money. Don't forget that two HDCP enabled devices can refuse to handshake Andrew.

SKG Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 I got a $35 Dick Smith DV-I to HDMI cable and connected it to my 24" Dell (current model) Steve
Livingthedream Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 I use a HDMi-DVi cable as well with my PS3 as my panel only has DVI in. Works perfectly.
