New Samsung R8 Series Lcd Looks Great!

Recommended Posts

Saw it advertised in the QANTAS inflight magazine on my way home from Melbourne on Wednesday. The "subtle" power LED is a nice touch, but the floating glass surround a la Sony X series and down firing speakers are not to my taste

Does that say in the middle of all those characters "10000:1"? Even though that's dynamic, it's still twice as good as the last/current R series.

Wish they'd just release the damn things here!

Bing Lee is in Melbourne? Where?

Three HDMI inputs is a sizeable jump from the two in the R71. Does this mean that one of the component and composite inputs will be sacrified? I hope not because so little of what I am running at the moment (foxtel, XBox360 not elite) uses HMDI or can use HDMI.

It is a wonderful looking TV though..

Pretty sure it has 2 component inputs.

Breaking News:

Samsung R8 series LCD all use Taiwan LCD panels

32' = Taiwan ??? panels

37' = Taiwan ChiMei panels

40' = Taiwan AUO panels (7.5 generation)

Is that good or bad? how about the 'about to be' discontinued r71 series 32" and 37"?

Do you have a link or source? I remember reading that the AUO panels where inferior to the current panels used in the R71 series?

Hi,

Im not clear on which new 40" 1080 panel is being released at the end of this month/May (depending on who you speak to).

Are the specs referred to in this article (the "M8" series) going to be the ones sold in Aus? There seems to be a wide range of models for every country- I am not sure this would be the one that we end up with? Does anyone have any intel?

Thanks & Cheers

Steve
