Yamaha Receiver & Connecting Everything. Also Thanks All.

Recommended Posts

Hi. Would like to say thank you to everyone who gave their time to assist me. On my budget, I purchased the Yamaha RXV659B and Accusound OM850 speakers. I believe the store gave me a great deal at $1350 for the lot (brand new). :D

I know my next question has probably been answered somewhere on the forum and I have searched but every case is different. Before I pay someone to come out to connect everything, I figured I would try the forum. To connect the following:

- TH50PV60A Panasonic Viera Plasma

- LG LST-5403P High Definition Digitial Video Record

- Panasonic DVD recorder DMR-ES15

- RXV 659B Yamaha Receiver

- Accusound OM850 speakers

- Austar digital

do I:

connect the LG High def box to the TV, connect TV to the receiver and connect dvd recorder, speakers & Austar to the receiver or

connect everything to the receiver, (even though it is not HDMI) and the receiver to the TV

It's obvious I have no idea  , so I would welcome any advice.

Cheers

Paula

Hello Paula,

Do it yourself easy, buy the cables from Jaycar or Dick Smiths, use component cables for picture (red/blue/green cables) and single digital (Toshlink) for sound (3 sets of each)

- RXV 659B Yamaha Receiver to TH50PV60A Panasonic Viera Plasma

- LG LST-5403P High Definition Digitial Video Record to RXV 659B Yamaha Receiver

- Panasonic DVD recorder DMR-ES15 - RXV 659B Yamaha Receiver

- Austar digital (probably Video S cable and red/white cable for sound)

- Accusound OM850 speakers to speaker terminals

Buy roll of speaker cable from local wholesale electrical store much cheaper, if not from Jaycar or DSE.

IF IN DOUBT READ THE MANUAL!.

Thanks for your prompt reply. At the moment, I have the LG high def box plugged into my tv and my picture is excellent. When I connect the receiver, if I plug the high def box into the receiver, will my picture be effected. I really want the best picture.

Cheers

Yep Paula, you can leve it like that if you want and simply run the other devices into your receiver and then to your TV (if you have a spare TV Component input that is).

Gee its nice to have a fem on here for a change.

I have a question regarding hooking up my Yamaha sound system as well.

(I hope you guys don't mind me posting it in this topic! It just seemed so relevant that I should just post it in here rather than making a new topic)

We bought the Yamaha HTR-5950 sound system, it came with cables to hook up the speakers but I can't seem to find a cable to hookup the subwoofer?

Do you guys know if I need to purchase a separate cable to hookup the subwoofer? If so what kind of cable do I need to buy?

Thanks in advance!

I've been on this forum for yonks, rarely do we hear from a fem and there has been three gals here in just the past week, awesome. Really it shouldn't just be a mans domain but a few here would dispute that, not me though. Ask away ladies!.

you can use an ordinary rca cable or for something a little better use a coax cable.

paula,

out of interest where abouts did you get that deal with the receiver and speakers from? sounds alot like what i am after! harvey norman?

I think it was a very good deal, and I purchased it in Brisbane and from Harvey Norman. Let me know if you are still interested and I will give you the contact person.

Cheers

Paula
