sidesh0w Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 Hi guys, Originally I thought I had HTPC problems but after people in those forums answered me I now think it is a reception issue... Here is my issue: Firstly, thanks for this site I have learnt so much about MCE and am enjoying my experiances so far. My setup is a DTV2000H connected directly into the wall of my appartment into an 'F-type' port. When I scan for channels I get the FTV guide, 7 guide, 10 guide, a heap of 7 and 10 digital and HD channels, heaps of other community type channels but no channel 9 / ABC or SBS I have tried deleting and re-scanning like 10 times but no difference. I live in a 5 year old block of units in Waterloo (2017) its crown square if anyone knows it. My scaning is completely random with its results, sometimes just 7, sometimes just 10... but never 9 or ABC, I did get sbs recently and its perfect so I am scared to do another delete and rescan incase I loose it again.
sidesh0w Posted April 11, 2007 Author Posted April 11, 2007 Hi, still hoping for some guidance on this.
digitalj Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 It sounds like your antenna doesn't like VHF 12, that could explain ABC, but not too sure about the other ones.
mtv Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 sidesh0w There are many factors which can cause problems like you are experiencing, including multi-path signals, signal levels too high/low, antenna and distribution system not designed for digital channels, analogue TV, FM radio, communications signals etc, causing interference. Or just plain simple ones, like poor connections. Without accurate signal power and quality readings, it's impossible to know exactly what your problem is. It's possible your apartment distribution system has not been installed to provide digital reception. Unfortunately, this is a very common problem. Have you tried a known-working set top box? Have you asked other residents if they can receive digital TV ok? Your best-bet would be to ask the body-corporate to have a pro digital installer check the distribution system, in particular your apartment, and advise further.
Guest pjw1963 Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 Hi there I am new to digital and don't know which lcd Tv To buy? Some advide please on what too look for .
alanh Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 Sideshow, Most antenna systems in apartment blocks will not carry all digital signals unless they are modified. Being in Waterloo you may be able to get the Kings Cross transmitters with an internal antenna. Read Get the Best Reception, Sydney and read the links. AlanH
charlesc Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 Hi, still hoping for some guidance on this. How did you go on this? Did you get your problem fixed?
sidesh0w Posted June 6, 2007 Author Posted June 6, 2007 Im now running my inbuilt HD Tuner on my sammy M81... All HD Channels are perfect but again its 9 / ABC which are the problem. 9HD constantly breaks up (unwatchable) No ABC Digital chanels. Is there someone I can pay to come out and fix it?

To fix ABC, you'll need the antenna upgraded to be able to do VHF 12, and wrt 9, they are on low power until An analogue service in the Central Tablelands is switched off.
alanh Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Sideshow, Did you try using the Kings Cross translators with an internal antenna? Use the directionsl linked in my "Get the Best Reception" post above. Remember to allow the scan to complete itself. AlanH

Aren't 7 and 10 digital also on Low Power until analogue signals on VHF 6 and VHF 11 (as well as VHF 8) are also switched off. Channel 6 analogue is used in Taree and Central Western NSW, Channel 8 in Orange (as already mentioned by digitalj) and Taree, and Channel 11 in Batemans Bay and Coffs Harbour.

Middle Brother isn't close enough to Sydney to affect it's transmissions, likewise I don't think Batemans Bay is close enough to affect transmissions, Orange is the only one.
