Hi All,

I'm struggling with ideas on where to put my centre speaker. I came across this on ebay though and thought this might be a good solution to use with my new 50'' sony 3lcd rear pro as i dont really want to put the speaker below inside the entertainment unit.

Has anyone used something like this or have comments about how effective it would be?

Yep, got one last year and it works brilliantly. I've seen no speaker movement over the last six months and it is a BIG speaker

you can get them on ebay from australia through selby acoustics (delivery cheaper than overseas)

You can achieve a similar set up with a rectangular piece of aluminium to suit the dimensions of your centre speaker with the longest side folded at 90 degrees to act as a foot which comes in contact with the rear of your set plus some blue tack.

I had done this with my old centre and it was extremely stable.

Thanks mate, just the feed back i was after as this will save me alot of trouble and give me a better result than if i was to place it underneath in the entertainment unit. I will check them out on ebay aus.

Having a look at that photo on ebay where the speaker baffle is behind the screen front is not good for clarity

always have your centre poking out an inch over the edge of the screen - otherwise you'll get diffraction/reflection leading to muddiness in the voices and it'll be harder to hear what they say (esp in foreign languages like irish hehehe )

Excellent point Norpus. If the front of the speaker is not proud of the front of the TV then you will get diffraction effects and consequent loss in clarity.

Thanks mate, thats a very good point. I found this design on amazon which may allow for better speaker overhang...... The search continues!
