Disco-123 Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Hi All, I'm struggling with ideas on where to put my centre speaker. I came across this on ebay though and thought this might be a good solution to use with my new 50'' sony 3lcd rear pro as i dont really want to put the speaker below inside the entertainment unit. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/TV-TOP-CENTRE-SPEAK...VQQcmdZViewItem Has anyone used something like this or have comments about how effective it would be? Cheers Disco.
moz Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Yep, got one last year and it works brilliantly. I've seen no speaker movement over the last six months and it is a BIG speaker you can get them on ebay from australia through selby acoustics (delivery cheaper than overseas)

I had done this with my old centre and it was extremely stable.

I will check them out on ebay aus. Cheers Disco.

Disco Having a look at that photo on ebay where the speaker baffle is behind the screen front is not good for clarity always have your centre poking out an inch over the edge of the screen - otherwise you'll get diffraction/reflection leading to muddiness in the voices and it'll be harder to hear what they say (esp in foreign languages like irish hehehe )

If the front of the speaker is not proud of the front of the TV then you will get diffraction effects and consequent loss in clarity.

I found this design on amazon which may allow for better speaker overhang...... The search continues! http://www.amazon.com/OmniMount-Center-Cha...6699&sr=8-1 Disco.
